CGR Titanium 3" exhaust..will it fit standard downpipe and cat?

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by andrewjeffs, Apr 4, 2019.

  1. Bought a fab CGR Titanium 3" exhuast system from one of the guys on here.
Its a full true 3" system straight through.
I have a decat pipe with it,but dont really want to fit this due to MOT problems etc.

Question is,will it offer up to the standard downpipe with cat?..i am aware the bore size on the standard cat will be different.

  2. Is the decat also from CGR? If so I believe they have a V-Band fitting meaning it won’t fit the standard cat/downpipe. Post a pic in here for confirmation.

  5. It’s bolt on so will fit standard downpipe. Will you be selling the decat?

  10. yep..

  11. i may well do mate. The car this came off was running far more power than mine.
Mind you though..its made from inconel, which is even more exotic than titanium!

  12. If you end up selling the decat, I’d be interested mate

  13. will see how it goes when my renaultech mate fits the exhaust over the next 2 weeks when i am on holiday.
Hopefully it will offer up to the standard cat.

The decat is a utter work of art, smooth welds,so no restriction of flow, and as mentioned,
made from Inconel, which deals with temps better than titanium.
They made the space shuttle rocket engines from it!

    needless to say..it wasnt cheap!

  14. Entire system weighs 8kg..feels like its made of tin when you pick it up..!

  15. Do they still make these then as they don’t list one on their website?

  16. dont think they are pushing them anymore,as the mk2 is getting long in the tooth.
i am sure they still do them on request though.
even the stainless system is still a work of art.

  17. Don’t suppose you fancy selling the full system?

  18. fitted to then car mate.To be brutally fair...the titanium system is not really ideal for a road car.
The central bracket,is a very lightweight design..and has already snapped once.
You then run into the huge problem of finding someone who can weld titanium.

The system has been designed to be as light as possible for smooth tracks.
Not the battering it takes from our typical, shitty, potholed roads.

  19. Does that mean you’ll sell it my mate for his super light track car then Andrew?

  20. will have to see how it goes...my mechanic..sensibly..cut my oem exhaust off, instead of taking it apart!
The central bracket hasnt snapped again since..

  21. How many mounts should the exhaust have?

I noticed mine is only mounted towards the back of the car with nothing at the front.

The miltek decat had a couple of mounting brackets, but my new decat doesn't. I'm a little worried as theres no other support at the front of the car.

  22. mine being titanium only has a wafer thin central mount
,and 2 sturdy mounts on the backbox arrangment.
    it only weighs 8kg though.

still didnt stop the central bar snapping almost immediately after fitting.
CGR said,it was due to incorrect fitting.
But it can only go in one way, without touching anything..but i wasnt going to argue.

  23. Yeah pretty sure I'm missing a mount! Will have another look when it dries up!

  24. do you have a central box?.if you dont, then it probally wont have a central mount..

  25. Ahh, good point!

Mine doesn't have any boxes etc.

Still seems like it could do with a mount as precautionary.
