  1. Car cant seem to give me a break.....

    Here goes...

When I bought the car the tpms didn't work it said tyre pressure sensors absent, I had all 4 tyres replaced and the front wheels put on the back.

I wasnt fussed as there was no dash lights

It said tyre pressure sensors absent..
Wee car dispaly shows no tyres ..
If I let down a tyre it says puncture thou so it must read them ..

I disconnect the battery for the first time doing other work when I put it back on the tpms came on and worked perfectly it does think the back tyres are on front thou.

After 100 miles they stopped working and it's back to tyre pressure sensors absent.

If i disconnect battery the system works fine again, finds all 4 tyre shows them on the car on display
It thinks the back tyres are on the front.

So basically every 100 miles or so I need to take off battery to get them to work again...

Any ideas what would cause this and where is the receiver would like to check it and its wires..

  2. Are they Original Renault units?, as non original can be a bit unreliable.

They should automatically sense their location Front, Rear, Left, Right, after some driving after removing battery supply. I would expect that this would be a lot less than 100 Miles, [on my 225 the ABS sensor display shows a fault after battery removal, this resets after about 100 Metres not Miles] . What looks like is happening is the reset happens but rather than set the location it fails and you need to reset the battery again .

I had the older type that have to be manually set up for location on my 225, I got totally fed up with having to have them relocated when I rotate my wheels, as I do this often so had them switched off. Not really missed them

I think the specialist kit that renault have should be able to check them on the car and reset them to the correct location manually - obviously this will be at renault prices, so a good independent garage, or even a Tyre specialist may be less painful, I know that my Local ETB branch can do this type of job at a much better price

  3. They are original units, since they sense tyre pressure and display it correctly I doubt that it's the sensors in the wheels but the receiver or software issue, or a damaged wire
