Cambelt Change, K-tec?

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Stock265cup, Dec 6, 2019.

  1. I have 265 cup that is due Cambelt and all other associated work done in new year(actually due in May I believe but want to get done in time for some trackdays kicking off in spring). I’m considering Going to K-tec to get the work done as only RenaultSport specialist I know even remotely near me. I live in Surrey/Berkshire area. Question is do people Recommend them for this work or are there better alternatives? I don’t mind travelling to get a good job done/price. Would ideally like to do this job myself but the Mégane is my only car I use daily and any set back could be a disaster, done a few jobs on it myself, small mods, servicing etc, but it’s pretty tight in engine bay and as always someone who knows can do the job a lot quicker with less headache. Cheers.

  2. I've always found Ktec to be spot on, I'd use them again.

  3. Rentech in Portsmouth could be an option.

  4. I’d go to Rentech

  5. if driving that far might well go to maestro himself Mick at diamond Motors he'll fit every bit thats required inc water pump and engine oil change as the cam system works on oil pressure

  6. Cheers for recommendations. I was going to do an oil change soon, does the oil have to be changed when doing the associated work?

  7. it dosent HAVE to be changed but as the de-phaser system works off oil pressure and Mick is not one to cut corners its all part of complete service fitting genuine Reno parts to give best results

  8. Ok, cheers.

  9. Anyone know how long Cambelt change job takes?

  10. depends how much stuff want do at same time, heres list what should replace:

    Timing belt
    Aux drive belt
    Dephaser pulley
    Water pump and gasket
    Crank pulley bolt
    Oil filter
    Coolant
2 x Timing endfloat oil seals
    Engine Oil

  11. Ok, how long would you estimate that lot takes to do by someone who knows what they’re doing? Rough cost?

  12. Had mine done at K-Tec.
    Dropped it off at 08.30.
    Ready just after lunch.

  13. @bobsan I don't suppose you have the Renault part numbers for the above? Trying to collect everything to do my timing belt properly . . .

  14. If you are not on a rush I will be back home in 3 weeks or so and I do have an invoice for all the parts I bought from Renault. I can send you a copy of the invoice by pm.

  15. I really appreciate that buddy I think I've got the numbers together now just using Google and Renault Parts Direct . . . plus I'll prob order before 3 weeks is up . . .

  16. Bought mine from KAM racing below and fitted by independant garage ;

    https://www.kamracing.co.uk/renault-oe-cam-belt-change-full-kit-renault-megane-mk3-rs250-rs265.html

Parts were OE. Think it cost around £800 to £1000 to get fitted ?
Found KAM Racing very helpful and knowledgeable when I phoned ( for other parts also ) and arrived next day with all the correct parts.
