250 "Braking System Failure" Message

  1. Hi,
I have a Megane 250, and recently the Braking System Failure message has been displayed on the dash, but this only happens when I'm slowing down gradually or going down hill. For this reason (to my untrained eye) it seems to me that it's a faulty sensor/control somewhere in the system?
I've checked obvious things like pad/disk wear and fluid levels but they're all fine.
Last week it rained a lot and my scuttle panels were overflowing and sloshing about, so I cleaned them out in the hope it might solve the issue to no avail. I seem to remember reading somewhere that there was an ABS unit near the scuttle drain and maybe water has gone in somehow?
I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar symptoms and what they did to fix it?

    Cheers
    Adam

  2. Probably disc/pad wear is on the limit. The warning message works off fluid level, so it probably dropping below where it would activate the message which is a pretty common issue, loads on here do it or have done it.

  3. Hi Ryan197, that wouldn't explain why it's coming on when I'm not touching the brakes when going downhill though?

  4. Well the level in bottle is tilting causing the warning to come on. Like ive said quite common, when pads and disc wear. Top up the fluid to maximum.
