275 Brake spoilers

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by RobbieR, Mar 19, 2017.

  1. Anyone actually removed these as per the R Link advice for on track brake temps?

Assume this is the 'Brake Spoilers' it refers to ?

  2. I plan on doing mine before my next trackday. I'm hoping I can get them off in a none destructive way so they can go back on.

Easy enough though do that Sam, just drill the rivets or similar.

I just pulled mine off mind you

  4. What are they meant to do?

  5. They improve airflow under the car during wind tunnel testing which helps lower the homologated CO2 figure.

  6. What’s this R link advice please? Never heard of them, presumably there are others….

    Thanks!

  7. Removed mine but I don't think it makes a significant difference to brake cooling. A bit of placebo is always welcome though!

  8. Aren't they also there to direct airflow around the wheels.
Since, from my understanding, the wheels create a lot of drag.

  9. Same thing! Less drag = better fuel efficiency = better CO2 figures = less tax penalties.

  10. The Saab 900 from 79-93 had these as standard.

    Not a new thing.
