Brake problem

  1. Hi guys/gals.

I've been having a problem with my brakes over the last fortnight or so where they make a horrible grinding and it feels like the abs is kicking in when braking firmly at low speeds. If I use the brakes gradually to slow down theres no problem at all. It never used to do this and i've not changed my driving style.

Any ideas or has anyone had a similar problem?

  2. Checked to see if there is any meat on the pads ?

  3. There appears to be loads looking through the spokes, I'll take the wheels off at the weekend. My guess personally is that calipers need a rebuild but was wondering if anyone had similar issues.

  4. You could have a cracked ABS ring which will make the system behave strangely.

It does sound like you could've run out of pad material as well though. It could be on the far side of the disc, that side that you can't see through the spokes.

  5. I'll take the wheels off at the weekend then. They're due to be swapped front to back anyway with sealing for winter.

Cracked ABS ring involve much work to sort?
