Brake noise inside cabin?

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by SpookyZeus, Aug 20, 2016.

  1. So if i sit inside the car, 265, with no engine running and step on the brake quickly i hear a whoosh of air sound. Its much similar to when you step on a foot pump and its coming from either behind the passenger foot well or from passenger side wheel.
So the question being is it normal or has something got a hole/leak ?
    Cheers for any assistance [emoji106]

  2. I.e you pump the pedal a few times it makes the same noise and then it goes hard? Normal

  3. Yep mine did it
    Quite loud too

  4. Aye perhaps its always done it, just unnerves me when i hear something like for the first time.
Though sound doesn't come from brake pedal.
    Thanks

  5. Nope sounds like the borrowers are pumping an airbed up in the glove box

  6. Quit normal, all cars do it to vering degrees, just air escaping from servo housing as its in vacuum. If kept pumping pedal with engine off would soon stop as air ran out of servo, soon as start engine the vacuum is built up again waiting to assist you each time you brake.
