1. right so this happened a few weeks ago, whilst at Bedford. R26
All lights on dash lit up with brake fault! Abs light etc etc whilst on track.
Symptoms are no speedo, no interior lights, no radio, no brake lights, boot won’t open, stop start button not functioning properly ( no need to press brake to start and takes a dozen times to press to kill the engine). All linked from the abs unit?
I’ve had a Couple of ren sport specialists look at it and were still stuck, so hoping some wisdom on here can help.
So far we’ve established there’s no signal from the abs when plugged into diagnostics, so traced all feeds and earths to this and all seemed ok,so we changed the abs unit itself and still no joy, keeps blowing the fuse. It has to have something to do with the abs, but what???
This is really killing me now as it’s had about 40 hours labour spent on it and still none the wiser.
    ( a cry for help!)
I put a new postive terminal fuse on the battery, the day before, as the old one was slack, but new one seems fine so can’t be that, just a coincidence?
I really don’t know, any help would be greatly received

Just wondering if the loose original battery terminal has spiked the BCM

  3. No faults until I put the new one on, bcm?

You didn't leave a wire off when you swapped them over did you.
BCM body control module, works just about everything.

  5. BCM is located in dash you can the the back of it when you are looking for fuses in the cabin.
Have you check the big fuses on battery terminal are ok, also beneath the battery or somewhere round there i beleive you will have more fuses/ relays

  6. yep all fuses and relays fine, apart from the abs one that keeps blowing.
ive never heard of a bcm failing on any car, how likely is this?

  7. very unlikely in my experience, but the odd occasion apparently it can happen, bba-Reman is a company that can fix them.

  8. cheers for that mate,
my mechanic actually came to me today and said he thinks its the bcm. so looking at fitting one on saturday, but im under the impression that it needs to be programmed to the car, (and is it only good ol renault where this applies!?)
    so will see what happens

  9. Yes BCM is not plug and play as it needs to talk to all other ecu around the car including immobilizer, so if your mechanic can sort that fine, otherwise its a stealer joby. You cannot get one from a scrap yard and fit it.
