Put some stuff in the boot and then got home and it wouldn't open! :rage: Anyone know where the fuse is, hoping it's something simple like that.

had this happen before, it's the button in the tailgate they fill with water, i bought one off of ebay for 1/4 of the price from Renault, works a treat.

Sometimes locking and leaving for ten minutes sorts it for an unlock if your lucky

I've got the button out and apart but it looks perfect, no corrosion, looks brand new.

short the two wires out and it should pop it open, if it don't its something else

Yep just tried that and didn't open so I'm guessing a fuse?

  6. I think it's the 15a fuse below the 3amp.

If you mean 9 I'm pretty sure that's the rear wiper

  8. There should be a manual release on the boot catch (there is on the MK2 at least) if all else fails.

There is from the inside, but not the greatest solution:tearsofjoy:

  10. No it's not lol, like I said, if all else fails :tearsofjoy:

Anyone got a diagram for the fuse bay in the engine bay?

  12. The door locks and boot should run on the same circuit. Have you tried pushing the boot near the bottom in case it's the catch that's stuck.

Yeah catch is fine, opens from the inside easy. Maybe one of the wires has snapped or something then. This will be fun

  14. could just be the lock solenoid has died

    Where's that?

  16. I've never done a megane one but I suspect it'll be part of the lock mechanism in the boot lid

You could do with removing the trim, finding the actual solenoid, and testing it with a 12v feed

Might as well just replace the whole lock bit then?

  18. Think it would be cheaper to get another car lol, never-ending problems

Not had that many real issues tbh, other than my windscreen and battery the other issues have been my worrying

Yeah, it's not the switch, replaced it and still doesn't open. I'm gonna replace the whole wire in my week off.

Im not familiar with the mk3 but does it have a button inside to pop the boot? if your button on the outside doesnt work and its new is it genuine? i bought on off ebay and within weeks it failed as the microswitches used internally are gash. I actually bought a new microswitch and soldered the bugger in and siliconed the whole thing so no water can get in at all.

worth checking the switch again though for sure.

I'll check it again but I doubt it's that, I shorted out the wires and nothing so it has to be the wiring or the lock

Turns outs it was the switch, the replacement one I got was also faulty :triumph:
As for why the boot didn't open when I shorted the wires out I don't know
