Boot alignment out

  1. Hi all, having a hard time getting my boot to sit flush. The plastic part at the bottom of the boot doesn't sit flush with the bumper. Adjusted the boot catch but then when I close the boot you can hear the catch opening again. Checked the switch and all is dry and without corrosion. Removed the trim to see if it wasn't sitting flush on the boot but it looks to be good. HELP!

  2. Pic mate, I had a similar issue.

  3. Are you sure it's not the boot open button? I know you say you checked but it might be worth removing the button and trying to close the boot.

If the switch is constantly pressed this would cause the issue you've having. Fairly common fault.

  4. Will get a pic tomorrow as I'm still travelling home. I will try and remove the switch but when I stripped it down it looked like new in there!

Doesn't look.so bad today which is strange?!

  6. Normal Renault panel gaps iirc...

Does the boot close ok with the switch off?

  7. No it didn't, I've just spent an hour going through everything. Stripped the boot lock out and when I was disconnecting it the lock activated itself. Stripped it down and with a load of contact cleaner and grease it now shuts first time. If your saying that the gaps are normal then I'm a happy man. Thanks for your help

  8. Mine was the same.. Remove the lower trim part and look inside. One of the plastic welds would have snapped and won't be holding the inner shell properly to the outer trim

  9. How did you fix it??

  10. This might sound daft but the lower striker catch might be adjusted in too far in !
When the tailgate closes it has to click over the striker 2 times to be fully closed !!!!

  11. I've sorted the closing. Just need to sort the gap now

  12. Yes but if its not catching correctly the gaps will be out !

  13. I've gone full one way and backed it off. Now the boot panel gap is good by the rear lights. It's just the plastic lower part that's out. That's why I'm not concerned about the striker plate. Need to sort the lower trim out

  14. I heated the broken part and also glued it.

does it go in when you push it?
