Anybody had any experience of how a Clio 182 with a turbo conversion compares to a Megane R26? A low boost Clio is about 230bhp, which being 200kg lighter than a R26, has the same power to weight as a mapped Megane with 270bhp Obviously handling wise you have the LSD from the Megane, and is the Chassis on the whole better on the R26 from what I've read? Plus Brembos as standard, etc Just working out if I go for a Low Boost Conversion (£2500), or sell my Clio and put the conversion money towards an R26...which should buy me a tidy one
I've no experience of a boosted Clio but I'd say you would be better selling the Clio and putting it towards a R26. If you are set of converting the Clio, what about a ITB conversion? Keeps the best part of the 1*2 experience, the N/A screamer. Might not get you to 230bhp but should be over 200, and the sound...
I think selling the Clio is the logical answer I'd love to ITB it, problem is your up to the same money as a Low Boost Conversion, if you put in some cams as well That should see roughly 210ish bhp, and whilst I absolutely love the idea of keeping it NA and the noise would be worth it, I just think a turbo conversion (along with loads more torque) would be a lot more suited for a daily... Interesting, thanks for that!
I've driven a boosted Clio and I think as a toy it's probably more fun and you've got the vvt which the r26 doesn't have. But as something to drive for every situation the r26 is a nicer place to be.
You won't get much money back on a 182 Turbo conversion. R26 values are reasonably solid, particularly if you don't fall for the all dreamers trying to sell above true value.
