250 Boost cut without any fault throwing to dash

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by asilx, Jul 1, 2018.

  1. Hi all,

I own a Megane RS with 200 sportkat, Akrapovic full exhaust, Wagner IC and Injen CAI. Last April, I have applied a BR-P stage 2 on the vehicle. The remap is only activated in the sport-mode. As you can see from the graph, the power is coming and going especially with remap. Guys at BR-P said that my standard recirc valve is just too old now and should replace it. Today I have installed a properfect one with the harder spring. In the normal mode, I don't feel anymore power going on and off. On the other hand, sport-mode is still problematic. starting from 3500/4000 rpm when I push the throttle relatively high (in the linear throttle mapping), I feel the torque is pushing me back to the seat, and then, loosing the torque.. Then again pushing and loosing. same phenomenon over and over.

What do you think? Considering there is no error in the dash mode or limp mode, can it be because of N75? or does car need a re-remap?

    Thanks in advance

  2. As said on facebook, get the map checked.... i’m in the NL, about 3,5 drive for you

How did the car drive before the tune, and if ok how did the car drive after the tune before the change of recirc?

  4. @tutuur thanks mate for your kind invitation. But before I come all the way to NL, I really want to diagnose the mechanical issue first (which is obviously there :worried:( ) and, if possible, fix it.

@Big Uno before or after the tune, when I don't activate the tune, it is not possible to feel the waves in the graph.

After changing recirc valve and with the tune activated (sport-mode), I think it is a bit better now. But it can be just a placebo effect.

Also, I just noticed today that when I load the car with full throttle after 4500 rpm (with the tune activated), it feels normal

Interesting, I suspect the sport mode will likely only alter throttle actual position (relation between pedal and throttle body butterfly) or in other words with sport mode deactivated your throttle position is limited further hence also likely limiting maximum boost. Do you have a print out for with sport mode off?

It could be potentially either mechanical or bad tuning.

When was this dyno graph made? During or after tuning?

  6. @Big Uno
I am using the sport-mode with linear-throttle mapping in the rs monitor. So I don't think that the throttle acts differently in the sport-mode

The graph was made during the mapping. The red one which is standard mapping is the mapping that the car uses in the normal-mode. So the waves are still there but not noticable during driving

I am sure Tutuur will be able to sort you out, great guy, would have had him do mine but its quite a long drive for me :laughing::laughing:

Sport buttons are usually just throttle positioning as far as engine management goes. The tables used will still be the same.

Did they do a dyno run to test the car before tuning also?
