I have the Arkamys stereo in my car. And it's still pretty poor. I talked to my local car audio shop and they recommended a processor, a 4 channel amp, speaker replacement and a sub. At a cost of £1700. Which is a bit rich for me and probably over the top for my needs. So what are the options for more cost effective improvements in sound quality? I'd like to retain as much of the OEM stuff as possible as I don't really want to turn my car into a Halfords showroom. Answers on a postcard please...
Massive Dedicated thread to this if you look, low cost you can just do the speakers, but the rest is upto what you replace after that. The shop just gave you a quote for everything, sub is overkill, if you did the speakers and amp them, you might get away with keeping the headunit
On the flip side I spoke to my local audio place and they have just recommended a small sub in the boot with its own built in amp and initially retain the rest of the set up. Was about £250 fitted I think. They have said if I am not then happy with that to look at upgrading the head unit and speakers. Have a read of the main audio thread as some interesting stuff in there. £1700 is ridiculous!!!
So far I've added a plug and play amp, tweeters and small sub, massive improvement and all I cost me around £250/300. As said though have a search, there is a huge thread on this
