275 Best track day brake pads

  1. Would be great to hear what brake pads everyone is running for track days. I ran RC5+ up front and OEM rear in my 250 and the pads were awesome, but they destroyed the discs (OEM). Think I managed to get through two sets of discs in around 15K road miles and 3 or 4 track days – maybe I'm being unrealistic with my disc life expectations.

I've seen the Performance Friction Z rated pads get a lot of love and seem pretty cheap – any feedback on how they treat the discs?

I may end up buying DSUNO or DS1.11 as they're supposed to be the best for disc wear, but keen to hear other peoples thoughts as they're also the most expensive.

Also, anyone tried OEM front pads on track? I generally go out for 15-20 minutes at a time, so don't need anything for long stints.

I'll definitely be fitting braided brake lines and high temp fluid as a minimum.

  2. I’ve tried a few different ones and now stick with DSUNO or DS1.11 as you’ve mentioned. They also last me a bit longer than the others I’ve tried so any extra they cost is compensated by their longevity in my experience.

  3. going to go with ds uno or ds111 next.Price virtually the same. looking at the stats it seems they are quite similar in performance with the 111 getting up to temp quicker, but the uno being able to cope with a bit more temperature .Dont think you can go wrong with either. Most of my mates with track cars have ds111.

  4. Interesting thread! OEM cup pads don´t work bad in hillclimb or fast road, never test they on track. My experience whit CL RC5+ is really good BUT, in cars with less than 1000kg. Maybe ours fatties Megs need RC6.

  5. carbon pads are great..but as mentioned they do make hell of a mess of bodywork and wheels..especially carbon lorraine pads.

I have not tried CL 5's or CL6's i run cl8's very happy with them, this is my 3rd set, disc's seem to last quite well with them, i also use plain disc's.

I have a set of DSuno's to try next, i have used PFz's before but in my 225 with mk3 brake setup and thought they were the dogs.

Someone suggested i should try PBS pads, after two close shaves at the Ring i binned them, once they got hot they didn't work.

  7. I thought the RC5+ was a great pad and in reality probably lasted quite well. My last track day before I sold my 250 was at Spa, so a fast circuit with some heavy braking, which finished off the discs I had fitted at the time. Can't say I found them particularly dusty from my experience. Pads still had plenty of life left in them after five track days.

Really appreciate the input so far though thanks all, looks like DS UNO is the way to go! I did run DS1.11 in a Clio 200 I had at Brands Hatch and the brakes were faultless all day. Doesn't seem like there's that much difference between the two performance wise.

  8. i have seen the graphs..not much between them at all..ds uno slighly more track orientated.

  9. Welcome fellow flame red cup-s owner!

One track pad i see mentioned a lot on the facebook ground is the Winmax range, most notably the W5 and W6.5. Don't know how much they cost vs the ds unos but definitely worth a look at.

  10. I had CL Rc6 and the amount of iron deposit were un real! Crap pad modulation on the road, was all or nothing so would make the car lock up in the wet

I have changed to pagid RSL29 and they are great! no crap down the car and good modulation from cold

  11. I've decided to pull the trigger on DS UNO, K-Tec braided lines and ATE TYP200 fluid. I was seriously impressed with the DS1.11 on my Clio 200 so hoping the DS UNO is as good on the Megane on track and worth the additional expense over the RC5+. Will report back after I've been on track!

  12. Seriously impressed with the DS uno’s on my trophy r, good power, progressive feel, durable (120+ laps at brands, 40+ laps of nordschleife not mucking about and 60% left), and very little dust. My pal is running pagids yellows so will be an interesting comparison - he’s happy with them so far

  13. @Andybabs any feedback on how the DS UNO’s are treating the disks in terms of wear?
