Hi guy's Is it worth getting the V1 series coilovers over the BR ones. The only things i can see different is the the top mount is solid as opposed to rubber on the BR series and the tube diameter is 50mm as opposed to 53mm on the BR ones. That can't be it, can it ????
Hi Josh I read the spec again and i think they were talking about standard top mounts, so what is the point of putting out two set that are so close in spec, are the V1's better. What spring rates do i go for ???? 8-8 front and rear or do i need the softer rears so 8-4.
The spring rates on the ASTs on mine that you went out in are 450lbs, the 7s on the BCs are about the same lbs mate
Cheers Steve I will probs order them tomorrow, drive shaft is on its way (Monday), a brand new one not a refurbished ones.
I've got 8-8 but track only.. Be very harsh on road 7 sounds good for good track and firm road set up
I haven't got a clue Josh I have read about both and the only thing i can see is the V1's have a smaller diameter tube and smaller piston, both are the same money.
I've got the road set up, i think the track (7&7) would be far too harsh on the road, mines bad enough set to soft, works great once stiffened up for track mate.
I have the same as sunnylunn - and I wouldn't change them at the moment for stiffer. I have the road rates of 7kg and 4kg They are at the point on the road that any stiffer me for, would make me not go out for spirited country drives. I run 6/6 for the road and they are great, and 18 / 14 last time I was on track and they works like a dream there.
Shockers must be better on the ASTs then cos when mine is on full soft it's a lot softer than standard set up, it's a pleasure to drive fast on a B road, not that I do.
They will be better Steve, cost loads more! mines good on smooth ish surfaces, just doesn't like pot holes, i still think the track springs would be miserable to use on the road.
Yeah they will be mate!!! BC's can be supplied at 700, includes getting them half way round the world, includes the UK distrubters cut, and the risk associated with stock holdings - they are a lot cheaper product than the ASTs will be. I spoke to guys with Exige's (S2) that run Nitrons and they say the same as you mate, its actually a better ride on the road with them than the std lotus set up. Still I think for the money, the BC offer great value and I'm really enjoying playing around with the settings etc. Being able to get replacement springs in any rate for next to nothing as well is a bonus. Need to get a passenger in your .R steve to see what its like!!!!
Yeah, its more the <40mph driving with drain covers and pot holes thats the issue for me, I still take it to the shops though out of pleasure!
just need to fit the rear adjuster extenders to make them even easier to set up  gonna drill some holes so i can adjust them from the boot area
great idea! - get some pics up! Its pretty tricky to adjust the rears, I just about manage it lying down. No issues with wheels off of course
I run a set of 7/4 and I find them fantastic. It took a lot of adjustment and fiddling but I now have a happy medium, great comfort great handling.
I never got a chance to try Steve's at anglesey on the ASTs but he wasn't hanging about, don't think there is too much between the BCs and the ASTs on track, but sounds like the ASTs may be better on the road.
Take it for a blast out next time Martin on the road and on track, remember to give it me back though mate.
It was great Martin, driver sort of had the right idea Steve, I presume the jumping about in the corners was the LSD working ????
Ordered mine today, 7-7 as suggested by Steve  £671 delivered, from Kamracing, BC didn't want to do a deal, should be here Monday
Bumping about ? It's a bumpy track but yes the diff works well just have to keep you right foot pressed down mate
