So come out of IKEA today with a few items, went to load into boot and guess what. Twat boot would not open. Is there anyway of opening boot from inside without damaging anything or any little trick from the outside
Can't say if it's the same for the MK3, but on the MK2 there is a manual release on the boot catch itself that you can access from within the boot. You can stick a pen or something similar in it to release the boot.
Followed bennos advice and there is a little white release catch on the inside. Now opened boot and removed release button, plug and wires seem ok. Are these buttons on a separate fuse or connected to something else?
It'll be the contacts inside the actual button that are corroded, common issue on them. Cheap to replace or just clean it up with some emery paper or the likes. I stuck some Vaseline in mine to stop the water getting at it
Nice one mate. Get one ordered tomorrow. A right pita dropping seats and climbing in to pop the boot. And at 6'4 its not the easiest climbing in a meg through the back seats lol
Finally got round to sorting this, contacts were obliterated inside switch, quick trip to the local scrappy and found a mk2 meg with pretty much a perfect switch. £3 later and boot sorted. So if this happens to anyone mk2 and mk3 switches are identical
