Hey guys, Had the car a month and the sound system has finally pushed me over the limits - it needs upgrading! I've a fair bit of experience from previous cars when it comes to installing new systems although I wanted to clarify a few things before I jump in and get on with it. Unfortunately I can't afford to change the HU and all of the adapters yet so I will be implementing a temporary fix - I have two reasonable speakers, an amp and an active sub from a previous car which I plan to install. I've bought the speaker converters which take them to 6.5" and I've bought some speaker cable to RCA converters as I understand the factory unit does not have pre-outs. I've read in a few places that the speakers are riveted in place? Is this true? Seems a stupid way of fixing them.... if this is the case how do I go about installing the adapters, does a thread need to be tapped? Are there any guides around that detail removing the door card and head unit? I've also been on the hunt for a wiring diagram of the radio so I know what I'm cutting into, i'd rather pick the speaker signals up here as it seems going through the door is too much of a mission. I imagine the speaker cable won't be that bad on modern cars anyway. Any help with this would be a massive help!
I have been reading into doing the HU for future reference and saw someone say that the sat nav stops working with an after market HU, is this the case?
