Had this Vauxhall Astra Vxr in lately, the owner wanted the paintwork red instead of pink which is understandable so onto the detail: Lovely british weather, kind of hid the pink: Car was washed then rolled inside and clayed, nothing really came off: Paint depth readings were taken: Condition wise, it had clearly oxidised but the swirls were also adding to the pink look: So onto the test spot to settle on a pad and polish combination:
At this point I decided to roll the car to check on progress whole car 50/50s: So back inside the rest of the car was corrected, I then put a finishing stage in, the pad washer water was looking slightly used at this point: Then protected: Wheels were removed and protected: Engine bay was in very good condition so just some watermarks and plastics dressed: Then the car was rolled out for some final pictures:
So Red Vauxhalls still turn Pink? Had a couple in the early 90s. A full day with T-cut did it back then. You'd of thought paint technology would of advanced a little at Luton by now?
Great job Once again! How old is the vxr? Iv seen pink corsa b's before but surely a relatively new car like this shouldn't fade like that. Is it just because the cars never been waxed?
Around 9 years old, not really a lack of clear coat means that the sun is damaging the actual paint so oxidisation is occurring, the bumpers had been painted and clear coated and were perfect.
Absolutely blinding job as usual Ed  That paint was pretty shocking for what is a relatively modern car though! Judging by the engine bay and the rest of the car, the owner is obviously an enthusiast, so I'm sure he hadn't totally neglected it. We all know red can be prone to fading but I think that is bad for a 9 year old car.....
Awesome job, I'm a part time enthusiast detailer. Done a red Astra on a 02 plate and it took 12 bledy hours just to polish it single stage, have no idea what I was doing wrong but never looked even 10% of that finish. Pad was clogging up polish was dusting everywhere and just making a huge mess really. Lol. Well cracking job anyway
