R26 AST 5100 suspension options

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Steve Rawlinson, Feb 19, 2019.

  1. I'm going to put coilovers on my R26. I've opted for AST rather than BC because the consensus here seems to be that BC are good value and nice on the track but they're a bit harsh on the road whereas the AST gives at least as good a ride as stock. Does that sound about right?

I see a lot of discussion about spring rate options for the BCs but not for the ASTs, presumably I have to specify some when I order? Any suggestions? I've seen 450lbs front and back but I'm surprised it doesn't make sense to have lighter at the back (especially since I take out all the rear seats, wheel, tools, sound proofing from the back).

I use the R26 on track and my wife uses it as a daily runaround.

Ast UK will advise you on what rates to run with the use and spec of the car, very helpful

Steve, you can view the spring rates that come standard on the AST kits for the R26 in the link below. 60/60nm being best suited for a daily driven car, that’s around 6.2kg, BC offer spring rate 7kg up front for their recommenced rate for a daily driven car (to give you a comparison).

If you need further assistance in choosing the right rate for your application speak to AST direct or feel free to email/ call us, I will be happy to help. We have sold many of these kits before so it just boils down to how you want yours set up.
