Hi guys, Pretty sure there buggered, was under the car doing some bits and bobs and noticed the inside face of the disc is like this on both sides, they haven't worn much compared to previous car discs I've had before. Car has done 28000 so not sure if they have been changed before I had it? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!
I'd say they're ready for a change, probably original from new with that sort of miles. I changed a set like that on a cup with 20k.
Yeah that's what I was thinking where did you buy the replacement discs and pads from?? Heard good things for ads so was going to message him first
Had to change all mine at 30k, pads overheated (track day) plus not used much since last September and garaged in rainy Lancashire caused them to rust really bad. Renualt M/cr wanted £1000 but got discs, pads and pins from ads (Renault Wolverhampton) for £500 and local garage £150 to fit.
Ok that makes me feel better about changing at this mileage the backs are in pretty good condition atm so only need fronts I've always done disc and pad changes myself and the old man, is there anything special about changing them on the 250???
I was advised to get the caliper pin kit for the fronts as they can seize also the garage said the front pads are handed L & R although I did not notice. All running very smooth and quiet since change in January. Did get a great inspection video off Renault M/cr though and they were amazed when I said I would be going elsewhere at that price!
Yeah its a joke at that price! I've been getting a progressively loader noise from the fronts for the past few weeks! Just had swivel hubs replaced under warranty 2 weeks ago at the dealership and took it back today because I was concerned about the noise. They said they would advise changing the discs but everything else was ok
You will still get the discounted parts, Just need to phone Renault Wolvehampton as they are moving away from using the forums
Also those discs look like you have a sticking piston or pads that are well worn with the corrosion on them
Nice one cheers Mike and Jamie much needed guidance my warranty runs out in a couple months and remaps on the cards so brakes are a must
It's auto world willenhall. Call them on 01902 216 073. I got some cheap parts from there a few weeks back before ads left.
Seconded. Can't see properly to be honest. Firstly they need measuring. Not with a rule but a micrometer or vernier caliper if you can get it to sit right. This will give you the thickness and should be compared against the minimum thickness value. If you have meat left and the face is not pitted or heavy with pad transfer then a new set of pads and a face clean should do the trick. As I've said it's difficult to tell from that picture though. Don't waste money if you don't need to
Did they say why they are moving away from the forums. Seems to me like they'd make more money as I've never bought any parts from Renault manc as they're overpriced
Never known anyone to say the pads are sided. They looked the same to me when I changed some today? If you need some pins give me a shout. I do some stainless ones which wont corrode in
Ads dealt with the forums, He is no longer there and i don't think they plan on getting someone to take over anytime soon. God help those that will actually have to pick up the phone and speak to them in person to order stuff now, What a strange concept
Hi guys quick update called both Renault Wolverhampton and Auto world willenhall who apparently use the same systems as each other and stock. They give a 30% forum discount so I have the front discs, front pads and rear pads for 330. Also got the pad fitting kit from euro car parts which is specifically designed to kit in the brembo calipers with the oem pads for 17 quid for both sides. Will see if it's needed when taking them out! Genuine pad fitting kit was coming out at 100 + vat!!!!! Thanks for the disc info, when I take it off I will inspect it properly and see if I need new ones!
Please can you post the cobta information for both of these places. I always used to just deal with ads direct.
This is Autoworlds number 01902 216073 just make sure you mention your a forum user to get the discount. That price I listed then was without delivery because the old man works down the road from them Believe this is renault Wolverhamptons number but the lady at reception did say they would be the same prices - 01902 216958
I would of got one of Mr Pinks front pad fitting kits/pins over the OEM style ones. His are a much, much better design
The ones from euro car parts aren't quite the same as the brembo ones, the pins are similar but the pad separater is a different shape?
its the pins from mr pink you want, the rest of the fitting kit can be reused, the standard design uses a collar around the pin which is a dissimular metal to calipers which corrode together making them a ballache to get out in one piece, mr pinks are of mitsubishi design which bins the collar for an r-clip and area easier to remove and reuse.
