yes Matt it's got a forge hose and Bailey dump valve on it which I'm not overly keen on as I like the chatter sound, almost like an echo sound. So so what does the plate actually do??
Can you run a blanking plate without having a dump valve as I've listened to one and it's got a wicked chatter but no dump valve just a blanking plate
Sure you can.. Just be prepared to fork up money for a new turbo soon.. And hopefully just a turbo that is..
Rubbish. Ive ran mine with just a blanking plate for well over two years now, Turbo is still fine. In all my years of being around cars i am yet to see a turbo that has been damaged from the above.
Is this not boost pressure dependent, with more being worse? Could be stock levels not enough to cause damage.
No,no i get that, It just seems to be one of these internet "things" that your turbo is going to implode if you do it.
Got a blanking plate on mine, with no dump valve. Sounds soo much better than with a dump valve on. Ran it for 7 months now remapped and its been Spot on. No probs so far.
out of interest , why do you run a blanking plate and not a forge recirc valve ? mine sounds pretty good with just the recirc valve.
Different sound I guess. Came across a vid of Jamie's with the blanking plate and I actually quite like it. Something a bit different.
There's a video of a guy going round track in his megane, he's got no dump valve and a blanking plate and it chatters really well sounds nice. Mine is standard at the min with a remap but still gives out a loud tshhh.
Oooo interesting, extra noise you want makes it a occasion while driving, I do like a bit chatter... You sure it's not going to damage anything or need any other work? As blanking plate is cheaper than a dump valve and that was my next purchase. (And rear discs)
Very interesting indeed. Might look at removing the Bailey valve and blanking it off to see what it sounds like.
The blanking plate is on its way to me. You've not done anything else to your car? And you've had no problems?? Ta Mike
What did you do with the thin pipe work once fitted?? Just blanked off also? (4mm vacuum pipe I think)
