anyone know this car? Seem like a good deal?

  1. Been looking for a 225 f1 or a r26, went and viewed this one as its local to me. Just wondering if anyone knows the car or if it seems to be a good deal. When I viewed it it's got a Stainless exhaust on it and a r26r spoiler I think? They seem keen to get rid of it as when I asked if it had a lsd (didn't realise at the time it was only the r26 that came with a diff) the salesman said he'd have one fitted at no extra cost which seemed abit fishy.

  2. Nice that! Do a check on the car see what owners etc had , check all is well with it .. Take a mechanic with you if need be . May not necessarily be anything wrong with it , could just be the case it's not selling and it may not be a car they normally stock so want it gone or can't sell because insurance is high for some .. Many reasons! I'd do a hpi check if they haven't already and go from there  X

makes you wonder whats hiding underneath that wrap, the yellow wheels are abit :fearscream: and also is the driver bolster worn?

and there take out the gearbox and source a lsd for free? id walk away

  4. All seems abit odd that they'd be willing to do that for free, yeah the bolster is worn. Did think about trying to get the cost of a diff knocked off then I'd have abit of money left for if something was wrong with it

  5. Yes, get a quote from quaife for a diff fitted and tell the vendor you want that much knocked off the agreed price.

It'll be worth it just to see his reaction.

Doesn't sound entirely trust worthy to me.

  6. I've just seen it on gumtree. Seem to have more of a write up than flea bay!

  7. They would fit an LSD fitted at no extra cost? Worrying..
ps - car doesn't look in bad condition visually..

  8. It doesn't look to bad in person either, drives alrite to. Just seems abit fishy how there willing to do that for no extra cost

  9. Think the reason it's so fishy is that the dealer hasn't got a clue what the difference even is or how much it will cost. He's just agreeing to anything in order to sell the car, without knowing what he's agreeing to.

  10. He did ask how much I thought one would be. Made a guess at around 700 plus labour an he agreed to that. The price of the car has been dropping a couple hundred every few weeks now

  11. The problem is it's making me think what's wrong with it

  12. been for sale for ages

  13. Get it looked over? Can't you pay like the aa £100 and they check it all over for you ? I nearly did it once before .. I know when something sounds to good to be true it sometimes is ... But not everyone is dodgy lol X

  14. It'll cost more than £700 just to buy a Quaife ATB diff. They'd also need to use a decent gearbox re-builders to replace the standard open diff too unless they've got some competent grease monkeys to do it. It would also be mad not to whack a new clutch kit in whilst it's off too and depending on the condition of the flywheel (which will probably be the one the car was fitted with from new) convert to an SMF. Parts alone for all this would be up near £1300-1500 without labour...
If they agree to fit and supplu a quaife for free then I'd be supplying the other parts to fit too.

  15. Point.
