What do we know of the soon to be Meg MK4 RS? Does anyone have any inside information on it? I think it has to be 300+ easy. As we all know a Renault isn't about straight line power but it has to keep up. Surely they must be looking at the focus and scratching their heads now! My mate has ordered a nitrous blue one so looking forward to getting in that!
I heard 1.6 turbo and 300bhp but that's all. Could all be Chinese whispers too, expected end 2016 apparently.
I'd be happy with 350bhp and could even tempt me Surely needs to keep up with the mk3 focus rs power wise And I'm happy with 5 doors looks awesome in that pic I saw on here
I have always preferred 5 door cars in a lot of models! I will be in need of a 5 door early next year.....I hope! So that suits me! Can't see it being 1.6 at 300+ it would be stretched massively!
Be interesting to see if they go big power whether they stick with fwd. Personally I can see them coming in at 300bhp and fwd.
Yes I think it will be 300bhp max 310, FWD and available in 3/5 door. Liquid yellow for me next I think.
Fiesta ST does more than that on standard internals. I don't see why capacity is an issue for power output.
1.8 version of the mr lump in the clio with a dct transmission. There was guff out about the Alpine being tied with a 296bhp 1.8 they called "brand new" back in August so it seems likely they'd share that same engine to me.
assuming the will use the 2 liter again but maybe upgrade it internally so i hope its got its potential (VW did the same with its 2.0 TFSI the 265hp model in 2011 was tune-able stage 1 max to a 310 hp , but now with the 2012 model and so on the same 265 hp engine can be tuned to stage 1 up to 350hp i hope renault can do the same to its 2.0 liter ) that it gets above the 300 hp range so it wil catch up with civic and other hot hatches more closely also i think they gona stay FWD but with the 4control system
It'll be this - a 1.8 blown four newly designed engine. The F4RT is getting long in the tooth and can't compete on emissions or economy. I'm fine with this engine and even a semi-auto box, but the 5 door only will kill it for me. Having said that, Renault are rumored to be doing a 2-door coupe version of the Talisman which is a class higher than the Megane is aiming at, so maybe they will be 2-door RS.
Not as a factory product though. Renault will have to make it reliable for the mass market out of the box and that limits how far they can go with a 1.6.
