I'm thinking of getting my 250s steering wheel done in alcantara, love the look, just wondering if anyone has one fitted to theirs or experience of living with one, pros/cons etc Cheers
Haha i too was searching yesterday, they used to be a guy in germany did outstanding work for all the mk1 focus rs on rsoc ill have a search on there in a minute never mind just searched it and they found out its not genuine alcantara
Wouldn't go full alcantara, will wear out very fast unless you use gloves, just sent mine off to be done by snappy , his work is brilliant
Both very good, had a sample of the R26.R stitching from both and snappy was a lot better as its done on a machine and royal is hand stitched, that's the main reason I went with snappy , he's also done it a little different as its a spare wheel
I'd be looking to send the wheel off to Steve at edge automotive as he's done some good work on my 133, what have you guys been quoted out of curiosity?
Alcantara will wear out and develop that nasty shine. Unavoidable tbh. I went for the r26r style for that reason.
Quality of the leather, stitching and finish noticeably better. The snappy wheel I had felt like a replacement to standard wheel quality wise. Royal feels like an upgrade.
I think that because alcantara is thinner they have to use a lining material underneath so it usually results in a thicker rim.
Instead of perforated leather I've had smooth leather with alcantara top and bottom , stitching in silver to match the R26.R with a red band round the top, should look ok
I've been looking into this recently as well, a couple of scratches on my steering wheel, although small, have always niggled me since I've had my 250. Some of the BMW wheels I've seen done at Royal look fantastic, I'd be very interested to see some pics. Been toying with just alcantara top and bottom and perforated leather, similar to Losi_8_boy, with the yellow stitching to match the Recaro...
