Any common issues

  1. Sorry this has probably been asked a million times. When buying a 225 are they prone for any mechanical failure head gaskets. Etc etc or is it mechanically quite sound. Thanks in advance

  2. Engines are generally solid, I've done 35k and only replaced injectors and a lambda sensor. Just make sure the Cambelt/water pump/aux belt have been done with genuine parts. If it's 'chuffing' from the exhaust on idle it's probably the injectors.

  3. Hub bearings are common as are window regulators

  4. Thank you. I know about the hubs & windows and have been checking for them. Am I right in thinking the cam belt changes are 72k or 5 years?

  5. Yep

  6. Thanks rob. I'm expecting a £450 - £500 bill for that so budgeting for it. I'm still looking forward to joining the rs club

  7. I don't know where you are, but a couple of really good specialists on here do it for £400-£450. Mark@Midlands Renault Specialists (Cresswell near Chesterfield/Worksop) and Mick@Diamond Motors, also BTM who I think is in Birmingham.

  8. I'm just on the outskirts of Cambridge. Is it best to do the aux belt at the same time. I was looking at kits and saw a company called k tech racing. Are they any good I was going to buy the parts through the summer then I only had labour to pay for.
