is this a thing? I have my renewal through and was wondering if this is offered by anyone? 4 trackdays a year would cover me nicely
Yup they have at least a couple of brokers that do track cover, market study and another that's a sub of LV iirc. Excess usually doubles on track. They might not cover crashle combe.
And they can tie into one policy? Is there any more, Morris? Just heard that name before, gonna start trying them all from Tuesday. I don't like castle Combe so that's fine! Croft is my 'local!'
No you normally, have a normal policy, and when you have a track day coming up, ring up, and i think you get charged something like £50 for that particular track/day.
Not everyone is: a) a driving god b) so flush that a rs megane is disposable c) so risk-taking I've not always insured myself, never did in the Clio but in the end I was insuring myself not against my own fuckups but other peoples.
Understand, but you also have to weigh up the real risk, overall cost to insure, the high excess, what is the actual track cover obtained and exclusions. I also think a high degree of risk mitigation is down to a sensible attitude regarding how a track day is conducted. Maybe that is just experience, so I can understand the desire for some form of limited cover. The other issue is the power of out of proportion social media lurking away with it's weighty view counts highlighting all those trackday screw ups.
I something's think I'm a driving god and that's exactly why you should be insured! My vx220 was going great once until a mechanical failure that couldn't have been predicted happened and I flew straight off at tower bend, It's these unknown things and 'other people' that worry me Other thank that I admit I've done about 50 trackdays over the years without incident, guess it's all about the risk you take. I just thought it would be good if a standard insurance policy could also have a few days as a bolt on product to the policy
I wish I could say REIS, they insure my Porsche 944 race car for the road (putting her through MoT again this year) which includes 4x trackdays plus additional days at 0.5% of the cars agreed value, fully comp renewal was £260. Unfortunately they wouldn't cover a car like the Megane under their specialist sports car policy which is a shame, been with REIS for 7 or 8 years now.
