I ready years ago that some guys managed to install it (and install RS Monitor as well). Has anyone here managed to do that? Tony
Previous owner had it on my 275 enabled by someone via OBD with a custom cable. As I understood some pins on the OBD cable need to connect to a different pin number and with DDT4All it can be enabled. I haven't tested it myself, I have only an iPhone and when I tried to connect to an older Galaxy S7 Edge and the phone could not install the Android Auto app.
i bmw you can have this stuff coded in if it is an option. I imagine its already on our cars, but manufacture disabled it for those who didn't pay.
so i found this: http://www.findglocal.com/GB/Coventry/1688904804655349/StageX-Motorsport from this thread: https://rsmegane.com/threads/rs-monitor.9913/page-2 and I've emailed them.
If your screen looks like this, android auto is already there and just needs someone to activate it. Quick and easy process. If you don't have that system, it's still doable but you require all sorts of new modules and programming to get your car to recognise the newer infotainment system. StageX will be able to help either way.
Easiest way: Chuck £50 at StageX and they'll have it done for you in half an hour tops. If you wanna have a crack at it yourself, have a look at these guides: https://www.gps-rlink.com/r-link-1/activate-android-auto-waze-on-r-link-1/ Be aware that if you do choose the DIY route, the software used gives you full access to the car's ecu systems, and with that you have the power to nuke the entire thing. Just take your time with it and you will be fine. I've been meaning to go the DIY route for a while as I want to play around with some other things and see if they are possible, like disabling stop-start, making sport mode the default, changing the tyre pressure monitors from Bar to PSI, etc... Just haven't got round to it yet (lazy!)
Ok so the RS Monitor can be coded in for £100 for my 250 Cup, takes 30-60 minutes in Coventry. I'm off there this week hopefully.
I had stage x enable android auto it on my r-link. Have to say it's not very stable, at least with my phone, which is probably why Renault chose not to enable it as a factory option.
What about the RS Monitor? I don't have that. Can they enable it somehow and is it more stable than android auto?
I've just asked for the RS monitor to be fitted. I want the 0-60 and lap timer... no idea why... its the kiddy in me.
RS monitor should be fine as it's a "normal" Renault option. To be clear I'm not criticising Stage X as he's merely enabling features that are already within the Renault software, it's just based on my experience Renault never offered Android Auto for good reason.
I couldn't enable RS monitor via the OBD so I did spend £20 on equipment and did follow this tuto https://rsmegane.com/threads/rs-monitor-2-0-retro-install.17795/#post-215318 I'm really not handy with computers but by reading and carefully following the tuto, I managed to do it easily. For Android, make sure your system is up to date using R-link toolbox with the SD card present in the car. After that you can just enable the function using DDT4all or most diagnostic tools.
