an R26 hopeful

  1. Set on a R26 a car to keep me going for the next two years at least. My mate got himself a rs250 but with only 4-6k to spend it limits me quite alot!

What bits and pieces should i keep an eye out that should of been done (Cambelt obviously) but more looking at the niggles to try and keep this car tip top for the next two years. And what have people changed/replaced on the car over the past year or two? Ive heard a few mounts are often changed?

Liquid Yellow/Blue/Black/white before anyone asks! (LY is a gorgeous colour)

  2. Welcome mate.

There are mint good example that have had all the required work done - its just a case of being patient till one pops up - they tend to go fairly quickly when they get listed also.

Major one is Clutch - they are at the age where they start failing, its 850 to remedy - so get one that has had a new clutch (mine went at 75k - flywheel, not the clutch, 2008)

Swivel Hub Bearings go every 40k, its £280 all in or thereabouts from an indy specialist to sort - again, you'll be able to find one that has had this work done within 20k or so....

Lower arms - these are a PITA to source from renault - I've seen a lot of people looking - people replace the bushes with powerflex ones, which works very well - keep your eyes peeled for a listing that has the lower arm bushes either replaced or with new inserts.

The rest are small(er), exhaust mounts, steering rack bushes, track rod ends etc

  3. Welcome from PH
