250 Am I Stupid (Tyres)

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by joshster321, Mar 23, 2015.

  1. Not heard of these tyres before, but each to their own, I personally wouldn't put any kind of budget tyre on my car, especially a car like the 250.

When I bought my old Trophy it had budget 'ditch finder' tyres on it, absolutely appalling, terrible in the wet, poor handling etc. A new set of decent rubber absolutely transformed the car, night and day difference....

  2. No one will ever buy your car now you are putting unbranded tyres on (sarcasm)

  3. Got to be a wind up, either that or your a complete idiot , I know I think I'll but one of the best handling cars and put some cheap shite Tyres on be reet

Ive just gone from the cheap shite ditchfinders that were on the car when I bought it to something decent. The difference is night and day, I now have grip when it's wet.

  5. you've been stupid i'm afraid, they will be shite.

  6. They'll be like driving on plastic not rubber. Ads and I were discussing the merits of shite tyres the other day.

  7. I had a cheap set once, never agin.
They came on a car I bought and like others have said it was like driving in the wet on the best of the dry days.
Look on the bright side though you'll get loads of mileage with no wear to the tyres. Just don't go anywhere fast.

Lets put it this way, if floored it from the lights on my ditchfinders I was still wheel spinning in third.

  9. Oh dear. That's not gone well for you. Not well at al.

Changing the handling balance is up to you really, but for me, the biggest thing with cheap tyres is you are lessening your chance of avoiding an accident should something unexpected happen, due to the reduced grip. The wet rating on these is 'E', which is pretty low.

Cars like these tend to be driven enthusiastically, which means you are already taking up some/most/all of any safety margin that most car drivers have. Putting these on leaves you with nothing, IMHO.

    Erm, LOL at this.

  11. If you wanna trust your hard earned cash you've spent on your car to 35 pound tyres thats up to you... But if that's the case you should think twice about what your doing...

Sorry Josh, you're asking for trouble here.

  13. You've made a mistake I'm afraid. Cheap tyres are cheap for a reason and you really do get what you pay for.
As someone else said, why buy a performance car to then buy cheap tyres to lesson its performance? A decent set of Bridgestones or Dunlop's can be had for around £140.

  14. I have some "evergreen" tyres on mine (fitted by previous owner) and they are propper poo.... not recommended...

  15. Josh again lol

  18. Talking tyres. Anyone know much aboit nexen n8000. Car came with them fitted almost brand new. I find them ok. Wet and dry.

  19. The Nexen N8000 are very decent tires actually for the price. They usually get pretty good reviews, but they wear out pretty quick (my brother is using them as well). It would be my choice of tyre though if money was a big issue.
