Aircon doesnt work, blowers dont seem right either and engine smell coming through

  1. Right air con wasn't working when I brought the car, not sure if it's even working or if there's any pressure in there at all so is there anything I can do so I don't waste a re-gas?

Also blowers even with the air con off and set to cold you should still at least get cold ish air right? Mine are always warm/hot air, is it just supposed to go down to 15c because mine stops there.

And lastly I get like engine smell at times when I'm in the car?

    Cheers

  2. Check that there's actually a cabin filter in the car mate, and that its in decent shape and not completely shot.. foot well, driver's side to the left of the clutch pedal behind a panel - think there are two screws holding it in. Not expensive..

They only go down that low temp wise, mine was blowing warm all the time... but had a regas done this week and all sorted... sure I read somewhere that there could be an airlock in the heater matrix... mine was worse after I'd had the cambelts done and all fluid etc changed..

  3. BTW - Guy that did my re-gas only charged 50% of the cost if it didn't hold charge which I thought was reasonable... think someone posted on here about kwik fit or similar doing a no-fix no fee deal or similar at the moment too...

  4. Sometimes when the gas goes low the ecu locks the pump out, so may need a regas and the pump resetting via clip.

  5. I was lucky mate - no pressure at all in the system but it didn't need the clip reset - My RS Tuner had flagged up a "low A/C Pressure" error but that was it...

Fellowz - you got access to an RS Tuner or OBD code reader ?

  6. I have a obd reader app from when I used it with my 207 gti, is it the same thing where I just need the Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the diag port?

Yes there is a cabin filter and looks pretty new tbh, I really get a wiff of smell when I say sit in traffic then pull away and I get a nice face full of it.

  8. Re: OBD reader app, yep - you'll just need to buy an adapter to plug into the Meg mate..

Have you taken the filter out to check it ? Is it damp ?

  9. By engine smell u mean exhaust fume smell? if so u have a leak in exhaust system, i had loose decat from turbo, common on this cars, once i lost a stud and two bolts,

  10. Filter seems dry and fine

Well like hot engine, not so much exhaust fumes

  11. I also have the issues you have described but only on auto mode, I can turn on the fans fine without auto mode.
