So a very good friend of mine has just had to spend a small fortune on his 2010 Megane 250. In short his slave cylinder has gone pop, the mechanic now dealing with the car said there was literally nothing left of it and that it was pretty much disintegrated, the knock on effect is that the clutch and flywheel now also need replacing. Fortunately the mechanic is a good friend of ours so labour costs have been VERY low, however it's still cost him just shy of £1,000 for parts and labour. To give you a bit of background the car is on 33k with a full service history (part Renault). Looking for thoughts and opinions, also the likely hood of taking up a case with Renault? Thanks!
Doubt renault would entertain anything on a 6 year old car, especially a wear and tear part like clutch, and the fact that it was a friend mechanic and not renault to fix it.
i remember in the early days when they came out in 2010 a few people had their clutches go right to the floor. Failed completely. Might be worth a call to renault uk.
Honestly I think you should just accept it as part of buying a used car. My Megane is a 2010, on 40k. If my clutch went I'd just get it sorted - I'd actually be embarrassed to try and claim anything from Renault as a fault of theirs on a 6 year old car.
