We've had this Cup for two years, and it's the most amazing car I've ever driven. It took me a long time to graduate from a Clio 182 to the RS Megane - with a lot of rubbish cars in between (well, with the exception of the Saab 93 Aero I owned) - but this car has always plastered a smile on my aged face. The sound from the exhaust (standard) is orgasmic, whether it's idling or accelerating. The grip this car has when cornering or coming off of roundabouts and shaming BMWs and Audis is awesome. I have never pushed this car to its physical limits - I daren't. And the missus daren't either. We're not racing car drivers! And speaking of the missus, she wants me to grow up. A Ford Kuga is being delivered in a few weeks - she wants something which can tow a horsebox, not a car which makes guys in their forties cream their pants with excitement. I'm gutted, but that's the genuine reason for sale. Facts about the car. It's done 107,000 miles, but it's still being used, so the mileage will increase daily. It has a full service history, but the service light has just come on. At the moment, the MOT runs out at the end of September, but the only advisories on the last MOT were tyres, and they've all been replaced since. MOT failures this year will be the horn - which doesn't work - and perhaps the handbrake cable (when it freezes, it locks on - but if you know about Meganes, then you'll know this is a reported issue - I'm guessing the cover around the handbrake cable has split and needs replacing). There are receipts from previous owners (and from us), and the cambelt was replaced at 56,000 miles, which means the Beast (that's what I call it - the missus calls it Mitzy, because of the registration plate) will need to have it changed again in about 20,000 miles. Hey, we're being totally honest here. I have to be honest and say that I love this car. It's not as fast as the latest Focus RS (the missus wouldn't let us get one of those) but it is an exciting car to drive. Put it into perspective. The missus has a new Mini Cooper S, and on paper it's as quick as the RS Megane. But in no way is it as exciting. And when you're unloading the tiny boot of the Mini, with the engine running, you don't hear the exciting burbling from the twin exhausts which the Megane gives out. The Megane is like a mad thoroughbred. And for all of the fun we've had with the car, we do drive it carefully 90% of the time. And it gives about 34mpg on a full tank, with a few bursts of fun. And let's be fair, no-one gets a car like this and drives it economically all of the time. We will consider offers, naturally, but nothing silly. The Beast has to go, but we aren't desperate to sell (the missus told me to say that - me, I'd rather it didn't sell, but come the end of September, we'll have three cars when we only need two). We're based close to Peterborough. If you want to have a look at the car, call the missus, Clair, on 07402406121 or drop me an email on smartin26@hotmail.co.uk
