Was hoping you guys could help, will the ktec 3" decat fit straight onto the standard system and what gains are there over the standard size decat?
Dont get the ktec one , go for the RS tuning one. Its a work of art. Gains , its a 1/4 inch bigger so will flow more. I dont have back to back dyno tests to quantify though
Yes it will fit straight on the standard exhaust. I'm running a full supersprint exhaust on mine and I'm very satisfied with the sound.
No flat spots, Will throw up the engine light unless you use a spacer on the sensor or have it mapped out. Will benefit from a map to suit the decat but it isn't necessary as it will run fine without
So will running with no air filter but its not advised. . Get it mapped. Do it properly as you dont know what its done to the AFR.
Can you not run the post cat sensor outside the exhaust system ( cable tie it bottom of car ). Did this with my 197 when decatted and it worked perfect for keeping light off.
They might run fine, but my car made much more torque with a decat. Much much more. Why bother decat and not map? Craziness.
Mine has ktec system plus sports cat.... It does sound awesome.... Chalk and cheese to oem system. Think ktec's is janspeed if interested
I'm also running decat without a map. Two spacers in use for both lamdba sensors and no warning lights. Runs fine without a map. Though going to map it when the spring shows its glory and it's time to change to the summer tires
Sure it runs better when remapped, though I don't think it does the engine any harm running stock ECU.
Sorry to bump an old thread but whats the difference in having the the engine light mapped out or fitting spacers to the lambda sensors?? Already fitted the de-cat and having a map done end of the month . . . so makes sense to map it out but are there any side effects?
My light hasn't come on yet and i haven't fitted any spacers. I will get rstuning to map it out though as its not doing anything.
Mine came on second day of driving . . . Will most likely do the same but does that mean the engine light will never come on? Even if there is a genuine fault?
Nope. I had a decat fitted. Suppressed the light ( courtesy of RS Tuning ) Had a SMF fitted. Light came on. ( again suppressed after that at RS tuning )
No. When someone maps the car they just ask the ECU to ignore any anomaly thrown up in a specific area I.e. 2nd o2/lambda sensor but to continue monitor the existing sensors
