280/300 Trophy thoughts?

  1. I’m not a stranger to RenaultSports owning two Clio v6’s and a 172. However, for the first time ever, I’m considering ordering a brand new one. Namely a 280cup or 300 Trophy. I’m currently heavily leaning toward the Trophy with the edc gearbox.
Was wondering if anyone has had much experience living with one and found any reliability issues? Also has anyone remapped one or done any minor modifications to one. I don’t have any intentions going to town on one but would be interested in a remap, especially if the edc “fart” could be removed.

Any help or thoughts would be great!

  2. Only had my trophy 4 weeks so not enough time to answer your questions, as for which to go for -
Really look at the extra standard stuff you get on the trophy to help you decide. If they are the kind of bits you want or would spec on a 280 then it’s worth going trophy, most things you can have on 280 at extra cost but not everything.

  3. Thanks for the reply. A couple of things are swaying me to the Trophy. First of all is I like the idea of a factory exhaust that can be adjusted/played with to suit the moment. Not too ott when the Mrs is driving it with little one in the back and fruity enough to have a B road blast every so often. I for one don’t want to fit an aftermarket part to a new family car. Secondly, the extra power of the Trophy isn’t just a software update but an upgraded turbo by what I’ve read. Last of all and I’m not saying this is always true but I’m guessing the Trophy will hold its value ever so slightly better than the 280. I would be interested to hear price differences and schedules of a potential TrophyR however.
