Yours is one of the first that will be running them all round, all the track spec euro ones stick to 235s on the rear even on 9s

  2. I hope I'm open-minded about it but I'm not yet convinced about mismatched tyres on the one vehicle. I understand the ideology but I'd rather adjust tyre pressure and damping adjustment rather than have different sizes or even types of tyre.

I went from semi's to slicks on my 225 and still managed to be able to rotate the rear. I get how important it is to be able to do this in these cars for a quicker lap but I also don't want the rear stepping out in a fast sweeper (100mph+) especially if I'm needing to change my line to avoid something on the racing line (or me having to adjust missing the apex more likely).

I'll find out how it is tomorrow at Eastern Creek!

  3. Following mate! I'm looking at also squared Semi's after my AD08's are shagged.

  7. So far I like the Toyo's very much. However, I'm yet to push them really as my priority is to learn the car. I still had the ESC on. When I overcooked an entry the tyres made me look better than I was as I would have to wind on more lock to make the turn and despite missing the apex I still managed to carry more speed than expected. They were certainly impressive in Turn 1 at SMSP. Approaching the left hander at 210km/h (130mph), I would go through at 170km/h (105mph). I expect this to improve as I gain confidence with this car. It was also very predictable rotating the rear. It does it differently to my old 225 so I'm still learning to modulate it for best effect.

  8. Ah very nice! Looking forward to the full review.

Well I've done 4 track days in mine and certainly still improving. With the AD08R's you can carry so much corner speed, and now I'm at the point where I have a feel for how the car handles, so you provoke some lift off oversteer to get the nose in as well as sometimes you just feel like some fun, but that's the confidence the car instills in you. I could only imagine your R being every better at both.

My only problem is the AD08's are not load rated for 91. So I'm looking for a replacement.

  9. Lovely car! If you leave the ESP on the computer will eat your rear pads like crazy. Where did you get those tyre blankets from?

  10. I won't be using the ESC anymore. It doesn't sound ideal for the quickest lap time.

The tyre covers come in the Green Hell kit which came with all Australian delivered Trophy Rs.

  11. Thanks! That means they cost more than my wheels and tyres [emoji23]

  13. Looks bloody good that downpipe. Charlie Roper does good work. I was looking at them also but unsure if the 3" was too much?

  14. Agreed. So the installation of the intake and exhaust is planned for 2018. The plan is to do it with a hybrid turbo (I'm not sure why they're called that when really they're hi-flowed, anyway...). If I wasn't going down the hybrid turbo path I don't think I'd be doing the supportive breathing mods on an R. I want to take the time to learn the car as is, then get a Stage 1 tune, then get a custom tune with the mods.

  17. Work of art. 200 cell sports cat? Would love a CGR decat but hassle of MOT putting me off. Still get increased bangs and the odd flame with a sports cat? Know power wise there's not much between a sports cat and decat.

  18. It's 100cel with a 5" cat. In NSW in Oz we don't have emissions testing for our annual registration check (like your MOT). Our law demands that a cat must remain in the OEM position. I wouldn't plan on getting it done without a custom tune. Seems a large outlay otherwise.

  24. Track day at Eastern Creek on 1 September. Chasing down a BMW M2. I think I could have gone quicker but I was distracted trying to look for clouds. He...he...

  25. Dooook what's the rear carpet like on a trophy r. Is it one piece from behind the seat to the boot or is it one piece in front of the netting then. If you could take a pic it would be appreciated.

It's 2 pieces, the carpet where the rear seats would be, then the normal rear boot carpet

  36. Thanks guys.

lok101, I'll be taking it to my trusted Renault Sport specialist for him to curse over. I've trusted him with my 225 so I have every confidence he'll continue doing impressive work for me.
