[250] Respraying brake calipers

Discussion in 'Exterior & Bodywork' started by dinn, Mar 27, 2014.

  1. DIY or specialist?

If DIY which paint (brand) are you recommending?

If garage how much is a reasonable price to pay?

  2. I got a quote for 300 Pounds for respray of calipers and hubs. Is it reasonable? It takes 2 days.

  3. I did mine on the 225 myself and they came out fantastically. Not particularly difficult but time consuming as it took about 3 or 4 coats and then two coats of lacquer to get a good finish.

  5. Lovely. Well done. Unfortunately I don't have much time for DIY. Where have you got Brembo decals anyway?

  6. eBay, I apply it over the red VHT paint once it's dry and then lacquer over the sticker to protect it.

  7. I got a quote from mobile service for 100 GBP.
I think I will buy stickers from eBay as you said. Aren't they melting or do you have any other issues with them?

  8. The wife drives the 225 daily so I don't think they really get that hot ( at least I'd hope! ) but didn't have any trouble with paint or sticker melting off no.

  9. Christ they look good!!

  10. I had mine (225) prefessionally stripped, cleaned, rebuilt, painted, etched with the Brembo logos in the paint, lacquered amd pressure tested by 'thebrakecaliperspecialist'. Admittedly this service cost a LOT (had a full spare set of all 4 calipers done for about £580) but made such a difference, not only in looks but in braking performance too
