As anyone experienced a noisy door catch on their 250/265? It's the small bar that extends from the door when opening it. Sounds like it's snapped but doesn't look it. Can it be repaired or do I need a new one?
Sometimes the bolts that connect the check-strap to the car come slightly loose, causing a cracking noise upon opening and closing the door. If the bolts are tight, and you are still getting a cracking sound, then it is likely the check-strap is broken. If the strap is broken, you can either live with the cracking sound or replace the strap.
I've just posted about this, having exactly the same issue. Pees me right off its not a cracking noise just a slight dry creak or squeak, wonder if it's the start of it going, is it the bar that needs tightening or the part inside the door?
Mine does this too, not even on 13k miles yet either. Will need to get a look at it then get it booked in if it needs fixed.
