225 cup newbie questions and advice

  1. Hello, I have just bought my first Renault car and I have to say what a car it is! I've come from a highly modded Fabia Vrs at 254hp with an lsd and the megane wipes the floor with it! The handling is another level.

Anyway I bought a 2006 megane cup with 82k on the clocks, the previous owner had the belt done at 47k back in 2011.. That gives me a year left before changing it but for piece of mind id rather get it done sooner before I start driving properly ect.

my question is I found a Renault specialist in Orpington, I'm from Medway,Kent, who will do the belt for me for £400 inc parts he is a mobile guy who will travel to me and do the job.. His company is 'Renault Harringtons' has anyone heard of him or had work done by him on here? I've had a few other quotes and they're about £600 plus.. Which seems a lot.

Also I read that the megane doesn't have a dephaser however i was just having a search on euro car parts for the timing belt kit and found that they sell a dephaser for my car? So what's the answer do they? Or don't they lol

  2. no dephaser on a meg buddy.

I cant help you with the query about the chap. Just make sure he is changing water pump as well.

  3. No they don't have a dephaser. No vvt on the mk2's.
Never heard of Renault harringtons but you could try engine dynamics in kelvdon Essex? Were all ways very reasonable on price and Andy is definately a Renault specialist he was one of the first in the UK to turbo a Clio

  4. Thanks for the replies! I will give engine dynamics a shout
