2016 911 GT3RS in Riviera Blue

  1. So recently I was privileged to be given the opportunity to work on this absolutely stunning GT3RS.

Thought I'd share here as such a special car.

This particular example is finished in special paint order Riviera Blue, which looks absolutely incredible in the metal.

I’d met the owner for breakfast at Goodwood a couple of weeks earlier so had already seen it’s beauty in the metal.

This car is only a few weeks old and covered 400 miles, so was obviously in very good condition.

I’ve read some horror stories recently of new Porsche’s being delivered to customers in poor condition with bad defects etc. but have to say that this car was in good order, so credit to Mid Sussex Porsche who prepared and delivered it.

The owner had already been shopping at Polished Bliss and ordered some Auto Finesse goodies, so I traveled to see him with my gear as well to spend the day with the aim to making it look even better.

Incidentally, the owners previous car, a 911 996 Mk2 GT3 Club Sport now belongs to Clarke at Polished Bliss, also a stunning car, some might have seen on Detailing World.

First up the wheels, 20” on the front and gigantic 21” on the rear!

Wheels were pretty clean due to the carbon ceramic brake disks, but cleaned with Auto Finesse Imperial and Revolution wheel soap. Various brushes used including the excellent Microfibre Madness Incredibrush.

I also used a new mini lambswool wheel mitt from Clean Your Ride, which worked very well.

    Foamed with Auto Finesse Avalanche

While the foam was left to dwell, various areas cleaned with an AF brush.

Then rinsed and washed using the two bucket method with Lather shampoo and a Gyeon lambswool wash mitt.

  2. Wheels and paint then decontaminated with Iron out and tar remover, but was very clean and hardly anything to remove.

Rinsed again and inside for claying

AF clay and Glide used, again, very clean and not much contamination to come off.

As the paintwork was in pretty good shape and we only had the day, we used Rejuvenate by hand using a microfibre pad. This really improved the gloss, even by hand leaving an excellent finish ready for waxing.

There were however, one or two marks on the rear bumper, so these were removed with the DA using Meguiar’s Ultimate Compound and a Chemical Guys orange hexlogic pad.

Before applying the wax, bodywork given a wipe down with Car-Pro Eraser.

Wax of choice by the owner was Auto finesse Illusion, a perfect choice in my opinion. Illusion is a firm favourite of mine and I have used it on my own car. As this is obviously not a daily driver, durability isn’t top of the list and I’ve found that it can really bring out a colour, so perfect for Riviera Blue.

    Windows polished with Vision

Plastics treated with Revive, including engine bay plastics.

Exhaust tips polished with Chemical Guys Heavy Metal Polish

Wheels and tyres were treated with a couple of Car-Chem samples from Andy at Clean Your Ride.

I’ve been testing Tyre Coat on my own car and have found durability to be good and it leaves a nice, natural finish.

Wheel were treated to Alloy Wheel Armour, which was very easy to use and being a spray sealant, ideal as time was running short.

The inside of the GT3RS is equally as stunning with the carbon fibre backed fixed bucket seats and alcantara trim.

Interior already in good shape, but given a careful wipe down with Total, which I have found to work really well on alcantara.

OK, so now for some after pics, I have to say that they don’t really do the car or the finish justice, a truly, truly stunning car.

    Thanks for reading
