2009 Twingo GT RS300+ F4RT

  1. I think its time to actually do this and sell up. For sale is the well known Twingo GT with an upgraded F4RT 2.0ltr Turbo engine fitted. Please don’t hate too much if I can’t bring myself to do it yet again lol

The car itself is a 2009 GT (but very little GT remains) I personally built and converted it to a 2.0ltr turbo engine and have pretty much daily driven it since. From the outset I wanted to build a fast, good handling daily that still gave decent mpg so has been built in a way to do this. Also, I did it in a fashion where 99% of the components are factory Renault Items meaning nearly all of it can be purchased/replaced going forwards, another reliability bonus. As with all project cars there are a few little issues that could do with addressing. The Exhaust occasionally knocks at the rear over big bumps, there is a returning warning light that requires coding out, it causes no running issues though. The rear tyres sometimes catch on the inner arches (due to running wide track and semi slicks), and the common Twingo 2 issue of bleeding lcd/dimly lit light that you can see in the dark. It could do with a map tweak as I’ve had a slightly upgraded turbo fitted in the last 1k, I’ve checked it on a dyno to make sure all is well and safe. Idle is a little lumpy, it is cammed and idle control with bigger injectors fitted is a little bit off. Any issues that have arisen over time have been addressed and if I can I’ve upgraded during the fix. Other than that, its an awesome car, I’m going to kick myself for selling but I want to move on to another project. If I was to keep it I would have a custom mid-section back exhaust made and probably fit the RS133 body kit for extra clearance on the wheels, along with a map tweak to aim for 310+bhp.

Modified 172 cams (both inlet and exhaust fitted)

1.9mm Cometic MLS head gasket and new bolts

New belts fitted at time of build and new pulleys at original build (still good for 3.5 years)

Freshly built Turbo Dynamics hybrid TD04 Turbo (less than 1k miles on this) (19t hybrid with cut back turbine blades and uprated internals)

Miltec Downpipe and Front pipe (2.75inch bore)

2.5inch mid-section back John Ashley Exhaust (modded to fit the Twingo)

Cooksport billet fuel rail holding Megane 250 RS injectors with a Bosch 4bar rising rate pressure regulator in a Jenvey housing, fed by a Nissan R35 GTR fuel pump.

    250 RS map sensors

    Huge Front mount intercooler

    Forge motorsport air filter

    197 Thermostat

    Direnza Aluminium Radiator

AP coilovers (tabs added for the RS133 arb)

    Whiteline rear arb

Team Dynamics pro race 1.2 16inch et45 wearing Nankang NS2R tires (could do with a refurb but plenty of tread)

    RS133 aluminium wishbones

    RS133 hubs

    RS133 arb

RS133 brakes front and rear with Yellowstuff pads

Fronts upgraded further with laguna carries and 300mm scenic disks

    Interior

Option black panels inside, Rear seats and panels removed

    250 RS steering wheel

    RS133 front seats added

Dash mounted Samsung tablet to show ecu information (revs, boost, intake and water temps. Torque app so customizable)

Pioneer TS-R1350S speakers. (Rear speakers and dash tweeters were added)

Pioneer DEH-S320BT Headunit (radio crap but plays mp3 cds, usb and Bluetooth plus handsfree for the phone)

Extended shifter with abs plastic knob to raise the gearstick to a nice position

    Body Work

The car is Ruby Red Metallic or metallic burgundy as I like to call it. Its starting to show its age a little but with no major damage. Few small paint chips on the front but car polishes up very nicely. The front wings have been spaced out to clear the wheels. Rear bumper has air holes cut into it to allow trapped air to escape. Other than that, its pretty factory apart from some wind deflectors.

    Overview

The car is very quick, it will run 60-100mph in 4.5 seconds and do a 100-200kph in 9.7 seconds (so far). This is comparable to high end M cars and early 911 turbos. It will shock most super saloons on the road though and dispatches nearly all hot hatches. It’s geared for in excess of 160mph and I have no doubt it would get there. It will very quickly get to 130+. At 70mph she sits around 2750rpm and does 35mpg without too much trouble. I do drive it fast, I also use it on track days but the ethos of this car was to do all of it including get me to work every day, comfortably, without issue and It does that amazingly. The car is on 62000miles and will increase slowly as I continue to use it. No how much do I want for this awesome car I hear you ask…. £6999 (because 7k looks like a lot) not much for the performance that it offers in my opinion. This conversion, for a stock 225 swap, would cost you that alone at one of the reputable conversion specialists without the upgrades to the engine, chassis and the car itself. I am located just outside of Gloucester and can be viewed in the evenings or weekends by prior appointment. PM is the best way to get hold of me as I struggle to answer the phone during working hours.
