2007 225 rear pads strange clips

Does anyone know what the strange metal clips are at the back of the (I assume) inner pads?

I've collected my set of these today for my 2007 225 (full fat) and wondered what they're for - and to make sure they're right for my car before fitting.

I completely trust what I've bought but all the tutorials showing how to change the rear pads show clips at the top of the pads rather than anything on the back...?

Also: is it better to use a pipe clamp to clamp the brake line (the rubber tube obviously) and open the caliper bleed nipple when winding back the caliper?

I've read I can just wind it back and make sure the filler cap is open... I'm not too happy to do this after reading various stories of breaking seals in master cylinder/ABS modules?

I plan on following a guide on here that someone has done but want to make sure I've got everything and the RIGHT information before I try it myself.

Finally: either way (winding back caliper without clamping/opening bleed nipple and clamping/opening bleed nipple) do I 'need' to bleed the brakes afterwards?

    Thank you!

The ones with the three bit's of wire on clip over the groove around the edge of the piston, if you dont have the groove then i would say you have a phase 2 car and then the wrong pads.
You dont need to clamp the brake pipe and you will not get the piston to go back in even if you take it off and put it in a vice, you can get a rewind tool or i have managed to wind the pistons back in using a pair of pliers.

  3. Crackin'. Thank you.

    I've got a rewind tool.

The part I've linked to specifically says for 225. The other rear pads on that site say for "225 Cup" which I don't have...

Is there a quick (as in "now") way of finding out the right part by reg/VIN online? I don't mind waiting to contact Renault but trying to find the answer nice and easy.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

  5. 440602466R were the right parts. Just spoken to Renault Parts Direct and checked against VIN. Just ordered and grand total less than £35.
