200 cell sports cat

  1. Thinking about getting a 200 CGR sports cat for my megane RS 265 to improve flow and release a bit more noise and pops and bangs. Worthwhile on a standard exhaust with the middle silencer deleted?
Current mods are ITG intake, stage 1 remap and middle silencer delete. 300bhp 343 ft lbs currently. Any issues MOT time? Would my map need adjusting? Don't know who mapped it though as it was already done when i bought the car.

  2. If vehicles still fitted with factory cat not convinced you're getting that amount bhp or toque to be honest, a 200 cell will indeed release good amount power and good chance pass mot if it's nice and hot

  3. Had the car on the dyno last month and that's how i know the power output. Had a look and appears to be the standard cat. How will i know for sure? Hard to see it properly.

  4. Well typically factory cat is quite large oval shaped brown colour, after market sports cat is further along the pipe underneath , smaller, silver coloured and round. Should really be a bit of flexi in front of it as well

  5. Good figures them bud, yes you'll get pops and bangs but it'll also be loud and not in a nice way.
I put a cat back on my R26 and it went from 284-275. If your chasing power that will be a restrictor but otherwise Id leave it. Reducing the volume made it so much more pleasurable to drive, and isn't any slower. Yes technically it is, but its a road car and Im not Lewis Hamilton.
It will be costly in labour and potential hassle come mot time.

  6. Getting pops and bangs now in sport mode since silencer delete, great mod that was. Definitely not overly loud, just right.
Not looking to decat would only consider a sports cat as they are a pig to fit. Unless i already have a sports cat fitted:grinning:. Dealer didn't have a clue about the mods that were on the car so wouldn't be surprised.

  7. Not the best pics, but does this look like standard cat? Going in for a service at a local specialist soon will as him to check.

  9. Sorry misread. Your gonna spend a lot of money to remove 1 cat to put another on.

  10. Big difference in flow with sports cat and standard cat though. Might not be worth the hassle. Maybe invest in an intercooler instead.

  11. Regarding MOT, I spoke to RS Tuning as I was thinking of buying their sports cat and the person I spoke to said that they couldn't guarantee that the sports cat will pass a MOT.

So I just went for a decat instead, I know a 'friendly' MOT tester, so either would of been fine but the decat is cheaper, so made sense to go for that instead.

  12. Lot of hassle and expense for a few extra Bhp when you have already removed some of the restriction with a mid box delete.

  13. You guys are putting me off getting a sports cat now lol, would not complain at saving some money though, if the gains are minimal and it may not pass an mot

Waste of money going sports cat, if you really do want to get one then go decat and have a cat added to the front pipe.

  15. Hi I have the RS sport cat and went through an MoT no problems

  16. To be honest, I think they were just saying it to cover their own back, in case I got it and it didn't pass. But it may depend on the tester as well.

I'm just repeating what they told me, I don't know if it's right or wrong, just passing on the information I was given.

Sport cat needs to be hot to work if it's tested from cold it's gonna struggle to get through emissions

  18. I took it to a test centre that they recommended! But in the end due to technical issues on test equipment it was sent elsewhere so I am pretty confident it meets emissions

  19. If you want extra noise, i swappes my backbox for a sports muffler/resonator. Its much louder and pops even in normal mode. For $200 (aud) it was very cheap to do

  20. Have you had it remapped with the RSTuning sports cat? If so what bhp and torque are you getting? Trying to get an idea of difference between sports and decat. I’ve got the exact same sports cat to go on at some point.
