175 dci

Discussion in 'New to the Club? Why not introduce yourself?' started by Parm, Feb 2, 2020.

  1. Had my 175 dci for a year now, bought it as a daily while I took my golf mk2 off the road. But one thing lead to another fitted a hybrid turbo and had it remapped. Now I've ordered an uprated clutch and SMF. While gearbox is off thought I'd get an LSD so I've got one from a mk3 pk4018 just need to work out what to do to fit it.

  2. LSD should drop straight in, are referring the box while it is open as 5 & 6 gear synchros seems to fail after a while?

Its the same box as a mk3 rs, so diff will fit no problem, or you shove in a complete 250 cup box and its more like the 3/4th gears go, did on my Espace (same gearbox) and my 265.
Box is easy to split, way easier than a mk2 box.

  4. Yeah I've got the box cheap as it was fire damaged so bearing cages have melted, I've split it and got the lsd out. Only problem I have is whether the gearbox on mine is a pk4001 or pk4013. I have got bearings for the pk4013, I think they might be different in the early 175dcis.

Also I thought the final drive ratio would be different for the petrol vs diesel box.

Another issue is setting bearing pre load for the diff bearing once I fit it into my gearbox. In two minds to get a second gearbox and get the lsd fitted by a gearbox place but don't trust any to actually change the bearings.

The gears on my gearbox are fine, also forgot to add I run my own garage MOT station so most work shouldn't be a problem for me, just never done full bearings etc just small repairs.

Do you have access to Catcar info ???

Its the way i cross reference parts and cars.

There wouldn't be much in the ratios i would have thought, as the diesel will only rev to 4k and the petrol to 6.5k, have seen somewhere on here that someone put up a list of gear ratio's against gearbox's.

  6. No never heard of it I'll take a look at it.

Well I don't have a usable petrol gearbox anyway, so I'll be using my gearbox or another diesel box.

Anybody have any idea on diff bearing shimming? And also would the other bearings need shimming?

    Here you go then http://www.catcar.info/renault/?lan...ub3ByPT0xMzM0fHx0eXBlPT1DTTFXfHxjYXRfaWQ9PU0=

I am in the throws of rebuilding my 265 gearbox, i will be doing the shimming so for me it will be a suck it and see job, i used to use a guy a couple of doors away but he retired 2 years ago :cry:

  8. all 175 have a PK4013 gearbox, pk4001 have same bearing in all PK4 derivatives as the 3 shafts are identical, only the number of teeth on the gear changes to suit the ratios Renault wanted for each application.

  9. What bearing race puller are you going to be using?

Also anyone have any idea on an upgrade for the plastic boost pipe this is the second one I have which has developed a crack and causing a boost leak? These plastic ones don't last long.

  10. That makes sence, I have the the pk4018 open and the diff bearings are a different size to what was supplied for the pk4013.

    This pipe

  12. that make sense if it is a LSD in the 018 gearbox. the standard is different from an LSD diff.

  13. Ok so I'll have to match up those bearings.

I have fitted the new boost pipe car back to flying and no smoke.

I also fitted my custom Bi-LED headlights, as I'm sure everyone knows the standard dip beam headlights are absolutely crap especially in the rain. I'll try and get a picture

I just got a gearbox place to fit my diff and changed all the bearings. sync's were ok and got charged £400 in total. Im clueless to gearbox internals but if you do this please take some pictures so i can get a better understanding

Good luck with it too dude! Best mod i ever did was put the lsd in my dci.

what turbo did you go for ?

they usually need shimming but I got somewhere to fit mine so unsure

  16. I went for the Espace turbo the GTA1752LV and got it reconned with hybrid compressor wheel. I needs a remap to get the most but the clutch and LCD need fitting before.

Good choice thats what I have done, Ive had a custom clutch made on an SMF. The LSD is awesome on these DCi's

  18. Same here just waiting on the custom clutch and smf kit.
