RS 250 Keyless Entry

  1. I've had my 2010 RS250 since October last year and love today car, but the drivers door never unlocks on keyless entry and hasnt since I've owned it.

Passenger door and boot does, just not the drivers door, so if I open the boot or passenger door, the drivers door will open then, or if I press the button on the key fob. When I walk away it all locks up ok too, its just the drivers door not unlocking itself?

Does this mean the door sensor drivers side has had it or is it something else?

  2. If you don't receive an answer, try the Facebook forums.

  3. Could be the lock itself, try swapping the passenger side handle/sensor to the drivers and vice versa and see if the problem moves? Pretty simple to do.

  4. Common problem - had it on both driver and passenger doors
Typically, it's the "white" top hat that acts like a rocker/striker to the micro switch. One of its locating legs breaks and it gets jammed, continuously jamming the switch on. As such the keyless entry is deactivated.

First post tells you the problem
Second post on how to remove handle without special tool

I fixed the top hat by drilling some small holes and fixing it in place against the striker with fishing line - strong and thin - still holding after 2 years. Some folks actual just remove the top hat, but I was worried that it would eventually wear thru the rubber cover on the micro switch and fail.
