I just bought some Arcasting ZAR rims in 18x8 ET45 , waited quite log time to deliver due to 66.1 CB.

... I bought this car a month ago and then, I "fast" or should I say stupid, ordered this wheels in ET45 without knowing that oem setup has ET65 and ET45 can altering the handling.

handling is main the reason that I bought this car , and for now stock setup drives just superb ...

I will have the rims next week and also need to get some tyres so didn`t test them.

(I also have very limited experince with the car on limit for now.
didn`t push it too hard due to worn present tyres and some other aspects that need to be addressed)

so anyone please share some feedback about the 18x8 ET45 / 235.40 PS4S / stock supension?

    many many thanks

example setup , not my car

  2. No feedback for stock suspension, but I doubt you’ll notice any ill effects.
I run the same wheel/tyre size for my road wheels. They fit great.

I bought some Team Dynamics that were ET45, fitted them and the car feels horrible to drive on the road, didn't even venture anywhere near a track with them.

they will be for sale soon, fitted with really good Rainsport 5's

  4. The rainsports are the issue, not the wheels

Well i have a set of ET50's and they still feel strange, but once on track you could get used to them.

I hope its not the Rainsports, as i've ordered a set for my Espace, there being fitted in the morning, i've had the Rainsport 3's before and they were really good.

  6. I thought the RS5 was better than the 3, but still pretty pants compared to the more premium tyres you can get.

Suppose everything is subjective to personal taste though.

I'm running Asymmetric 6's, they are epic, surprisingly good in the dry on track, amazing in the wet, but don't tell anyone :laughing:

  8. I've just got hold of some new 18x8.5 et45 wheels, test fit today looks like it should just fit with some 235s, I've attached pics of the wheel without tyres, I'll update when they're fitted. If anyone cares they'll be a set of AD08RS, so should handle pretty nicely!

    thanks everybody for the inputs.

I will not use ET45 , I will buy another set in ET50.

I might sell the Arcasting set or use it on my Honda ....

  12. Why don't you just try them and see what it feels like, rather than relying on internet commenters that may drive in a totally different style to yourself? I changed my Clio's wheels from ET60 to ET45 and found the car to be far more stable in fast corners than the factory setup.

testing this will not lead to proper conclusion because my actual setup on the car is oem 19" rims with 235/35/19 Bridgestone S005.

for the new ET45 18 rims I have brand new Yokohama A052 so no matter the ET will be a great improvement due to better new tyres.

in my country roads are not so great but this Megane RS is the first car I had that you can really blast on these B roads without drama.
car is super stable and predictable , steering feel and input is just spot and car will not follow the longitudinal imperfections in this roads ....

is this aspect that I don`t want to alter

I also have a Civic TypeR EP3 , on KW suspension , SPC camber kits , longer ball joints to realign the control arms , realigned steering arms , Hunter geo more inclined to street use etc , etc ... some effort was made to mittigate the shitty Honda chassis.

    _MG_1226.jpg

B roads deteriorated areas where Honda is just hysterical , requiring all the drivers skill to not crash , the Megane will just fly by neutral effortlessly , safe and ... quiet due stock exhaust and not 9000 rpm

the Renault Perfohub strut design has a negative scrub radius to mittigate a lot of issues involved with a FWD car.
ET45 will shift the scrub radius by 20mm...

how this translate in real life I don`t know so that`s why I asked more experience users cause I have the car for just more than a month , so very limted experience.

on the other hand I like this wheels very much , is a rally spec wheel. here are just a quick test fit (to test the 66.1CB) on my other diesel Meg.

(I decided to use this set on my Honda that has ET45 oem, and find some rims with an ET close to the oem 65 figure ....)

rally spec N4 is running ET50 / 18x8 Speedline`s. this is the setup developed directly by Renault Sport so I will get those ....

  14. I feel that you may be over thinking it, within the uk I've seen plenty of meganes on et45 wheels which are 8-9" wide on track. They all go very very well on track and the uk also has some terrible roads.

Instead of swapping to a wheel which has a 5mm difference I would save your money and spend that on something else and keep the wheels you have.

  16. As promised, see pics for fitment of 18 x 8.5 et45. No rubbing at full lock and good over bumps. Pretty good fitment if I don't say so myself!
