I have decided to start a thread here and keep a diary of my ownership and track experiences with my new (to me) Megane 275 Trophy #1515. I have had the car for almost six months, and it has been a dream. So here she is, Luna the Megane: I picked up the car with 55000km and impeccable service history from a Swiss owner who mainly used it for track events previously and did no more than 1000km per year and in between full services. The car has all the Trophy goodies, including freshly fully rebuilt Ohlins from Madeno Racing, which are just magic. The car was completely stock when I bought it. I have done a 3000km or so Eurotrip just as I bought it and it was a great trip to create some memories. Since then it has been a weekend drive and trackdays car. The first track day with Luna was a Zolder. I got a set of Pagid RSL29 pads for the front and removed the back seats for some weight saving (they are surprisingly heavy). The car performed great, but the Michelin PS4S tires did give up quite quickly, Zolder is very demanding with lots of braking hard zones. The Pagid pads are amazing though, zero fade and feel consistent. The car has braided brake lines and RBF660 brake fluid, which greatly helps. Takeaways from the day were: I need stickier rubber I am slashing around in corners and under braking in the seats, some harnesses would do me good The stock shifter is a little long and rubbery, a short shifter will increase feel and accuracy. After that, I did some upgrades in preparation for the next track day. I added a CAE short shifter 4-point OMP harnesses Yokohama Advan A052 tires 235/40/19 RS Performance Blow-off valve The second track day was at Assen. The tires made the biggest difference, as suspected! Grip is much higher and I can brake much later and with more confidence. I am running in a different issues now where the camber on the Ohlins is not enough to really take full advantage of the tires. The harnesses do help a lot with keeping me in place but my legs are still smashing against the door card and center console in hard cornering. The short shifter is magic, it took a little while to get used to the very short throw but it is very precise and you can be really quick with your shifts on track. The placement is also great, right next to the wheel. It also looks amazing in my opinion. Lastly the blow off valve... You do not really hear it much on track because it is loud and the helmet gets in the way, but on those weekend drives, it makes me chuckle like a teenager. For next season I would be looking to maybe improve the following: Get a set of proper bucket seats to hold me in place Put a bolt in half cage so that I can properly secure my harnesses and be able to use a HANS device. The current setup works in terms of holding me in place but I am not 100% conviced on the actual safety Figure out some camber adjustment for the Ohlins. Madeno offers a Clubsport kit for the Ohlins or maybe go for a different set of coilovers altogether Thanks all for reading if you have made it this far! I will keep this thread as a running diary. Any suggestions on parts, upgrades, or driving tips are more than welcome! Would love to learn from your experience, cheers!
