Upgraded headlight bulbs.

  2. Yeah the halogen bulbs look crap. The reg came on the car, I wasn’t sure at first but its growing on me.
     
  3. Having ran the Philips Pro9000 for a while now, here's my review.

    They are brilliant to install - physically smaller than the Novsight with no external electronics on a tail, so no worries about a rats nest of cables and modules rattling around inside the headlight. The bayonet mounting bezel is thinner than the Novsight meaning the spring retainer is not distorted too badly. The standard headlight dust covers could be used but I fitted some domed ones to help with air circulation. There are no CAN errors or flickering.

    The beam pattern is perfect with most of the light output concentrated at the cut off point where it's needed unlike with the Novsight which pools the light closer to the car. Whilst the Philips like all LED's are an MOT failure, I'm totally confident they are not causing any glare or other nuisance to other drivers. I'm convinced they have got brighter as they have "burned in", but they're still not much brighter than the Osram Night Breakers I originally had and probably less bright than the Novsight when you look at the headlight, but give more useful light in the right place on the road.

    They were very pricey even with a discount code at £128 but they do have a 5 year warranty and a surprisingly high resale value on eBay. I do get a sense that all after market LED lamps will be like the Philips in a few years time with all the electronics built in and will probably cost peanuts, so I have paid a hefty premium to have them now. I'm happy with them but would only rate them as reasonable rather than outstanding value.

  5. Very well explained write up. I find the novsight bulbs good for ways they are and the price. They Philips bulbs are really pricey. I still can't get why renault wouldn't have had a option of xenon headlights on the later mk3s. Its one of the only things I dislike about the car is the headlights. Maybe concentrated on other aspects of the car and to be fair they got most right. Lol.

  7. I just had a bulb go last week so had to replace. Fitted OEM grade Ring ones a pair.

    Easy to replace after watching Youtube video.

    Drove last night.

    OMG lethal.

    I think I replaced upgraded bulbs with OEM std, Shocking now gonna get some upgraded ones. Stick with Halogen H7.

  9. I have Osram Nightbreaker LED in both dip and main beams, as my other car is full LED the Megane was bordering on dangerous with stock bulbs!

    Much better than stock, and being the Osram Nightbreaker, are road legal AND TÜV approved!

    I've had Osram LEDs as low beams but they were pretty junk compared to other cars. I've never had driven with halogen bulbs the RS275.

    Right now I have Bevinsee v35 as low beams and the Osram as high beams. Compared to the Osram the V35s are visible for a longer distance and also the light color is better, the light is more visible on the road, especially during sunset
