RS Trophy 275 64 Plate - Keyless Unlocking (Again)

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by martyns20, Jan 31, 2021.

  1. I have a problem with the keyless/handsfree unlocking.
Everything is ok except when trying to use the unlocking by placing your hand on the handles.
I know my key is in the zone because the boot unlocks ok by pressing the button.
The doors on drivers and passengers side will not unlock using hands-free.
The key locks/unlocks both doors ok.
I had the drivers side optical sensor fail about three years ago and it was replaced under warranty.
But it's strange that both sensors are now not working.
I have unplugged and cleaned both door harnesses, all pins look ok.
I don't believe two sensors can be faulty so it's pointing me elsewhere.
Has anyone any experience of the optical sensors and the wiring path?
Do I need a tech to check with CAN Clip?

  2. I have exactly the same problem. One you have opened the book the doors both unlock and open.

when you had the optical sensor replaced before did that fix the issue??

and was it just one door that didn’t work or both when you had the sensor replaced before?

  3. Connection 26p

  4. This is what I get on clip

  5. But same, I find it unlikely its both sensors failing at same time

  6. Yes, it was drivers side that wasn't working but passenger side was ok.
Luckily it was still under warranty.

  7. Do you know where this connection is?
What CLIP device do you have? I want to buy one that works with RS but when I contact eBay suppliers it all seems a bit vague as to whether it will work...

  8. My 275 you have to press the button on the door handle to open it, should you be able to just pull on the handle and it open?

  9. I was under the impression that Renault dropped the optical switches on the later models due to them being unreliable. On my 275 you have to press the button on the door handle.

  10. Must have just been the earlier models then, I thought mine was broken haha.

  11. Mines a 250. Pressing the button doesn’t work either.

  12. I’ve been trying to find out without much success.

I got the clip device off eBay.

  13. So do you not have the oval shape lens/cover on the car and the slight dimple on the handle opposite it?

  14. So do you not have an oval shaped lens on the car and a dimple on the door handle opposite it?

  15. I have 275, 2016 model. Same as others, I have to press the button to unlock the doors. But I also have a lens and dimple on the handle. I guess Renault leave teh doors as they were on the older models, beacuse they couldn't be bothered to change the whole door just because one minor change. Also this oval lense on my isn't connected to anything.

So for your case. If you have a small button on the door handle, than your car is unlockable by the button. And judging by the title of this thread, you have a FaceLift RS, so yes, you have to press the button to unlock it.

  16. Both drivers and passenger side worked on the optical sensors until a couple of weeks ago.
As I stated Renault Manchester replaced the drivers side sensor when the car was approximately 2 years old.
I'm trying to determine what's wrong and it's strange that both have stopped working at the same time which leads me to think it's something other than the sensors.

  17. The auto unlocking on mine also pretty random sometimes won’t need to press anything, sometimes press the button and nothing having to resort to the key card. For reference mines a pre facelift 2013

  18. I have checked this out. The small black button LOCKS the doors when the keycard is in the zone. It does not unlock anything at any time, repressing it after the locking sequence just activates the locking solenoids again

  19. I won't hold on to your words, maybe your are right for your car. But I have my car since early 2017 and it was always like that. I have to press the button to UNLOCK it every time, and the car LOCKS it self after I get out of it and walk away. Maybe it is different for UK en EU cars, but I wouldn't say it is different on this topic.

But this pocedure with unlocking and locking like on my car is the same for all the Scenics of that year, as Scenic and Megane are on same platform. My mother have Scenic 2016 and its the same as on my car. I work for Renault Slovenia and that was a change on facelifts as the sensors were a big problem on previous cars, so they changed it to button.

Just some info, but maybe different on your car.

  20. Did you make any progress locating the connection/component?
My local auto electrician will look at mine for £70 for the first hour... just wondering if it's worth it.
He does have all the kit and seems to be aware of the issue.

  21. I haven’t had chance to look tbh. I had the door card off to have a look how accessible it is before xmas but haven’t done anything since.

  22. I'm having a problem with the driver's side door unlocking function - problem is with the hand on/in handle operation ie “handsfree”; the Key Card unlock works fine. And handsfree unlock works on passenger door.

As the lock black button on the handle works fine when the Key Card is nearby so I figure this rules out the antenna in the handle being faulty (pushing button with KeyCard nearby initiates lock, but does nothing is KeyCard absent)

So I'm thinking the IR transmitter/reciever sub-module on the door handle inside piece is faulty.
To confirm I wanted to use DDT4ALL software and monitor the various inputs on the door; in particular
    - antenna does always pick up the Key Card
    - IR tran/receiver is not seeing my hand
    - the switch associated with the handle position is off when handle in, and on when handle pulled

Looking thru DDT4ALL, I'm thinking the UCH module is where to look, and have focused on the following screens (screen shoot of parts of these screens are attached)
    - UCH_BCM95_SES Function_Read_A_AC_General_Handfree_Status_BCM_Input_Output
    - UCH_BCM95_SES Function_Read_A_AC_VSC_Input_Status_BCM_Input_Output

If anyone has previously used DDT4ALL (or CLIP) to monitor these door inputs, can you please let me know what you've found i.e. which screen parameters they are.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

  23. You guys are letting it self lock, and not manually locking it? As manually locking it overides the keyless.

  24. No mate
