Megane R26 LY. Competition Win

Discussion in 'New to the Club? Why not introduce yourself?' started by Simon Shire, Jan 10, 2021.

  1. Thought I'd say. Previously owned a 225 5 door and 7 Clio 172/182, including my current Clio 182 Cup In RB.
Last week I bought 4 tickets at £2.49 each from Track Car Giveaways and Friday night got a call to say if won. Well this morning I took delivery of the car. Love it is so much nicer than my old 225 to drive.
Car's had a few owners done 100k and belts due end of this year. Doesn't need much but already looking at stuff to improve it. My Clio is pretty much track focussed so the Megane takes up the daily role. Don't do much mileage only really need a car at weekends but looking at Springs (Grams) wheels as I'll either need to return these anyway so tempted by Pro Race wheels. The steering wheel retrim, carbon door bullets and just general bits and pieces.
Any previous owners on here please say Hi

  6. Used to enter loads of competition now just the ones I'd actually like to own and anything LY is worth owning

  7. Someone else mentioned the grill. I had mesh grills on my 225 but will look into it. If they're wrong they will be replaced

  8. I had thought that would be the principle of these competitions. Visualise it on your drive way. Not get a ticket as a 19 year old with a work van and no need for a car? If you just want cash there are plenty of other options.

Only thing is the odds seem known and may be better than a scratch card.

Well done nice to hear someone winning. As you say LY is always worth it:smile:

  9. I've noticed the odds with some sites getting worse and their profit margins feeling very large, I know they have overheads advertising and card fees etc but when they're taking 30k on a 12k car it don't seem worth it to me. This company offer much better odds smaller profit margin and all cars tend to include a free Trackday Obsession trackday. Think they sold 3400 tickets for this one and the draw is guaranteed no matter how many tickets sell.

  10. Spent the afternoon cleaning the Megane and added a fresh set of Clio 200 mats, not perfect fit but we're cheap enough. LY gets dirty very easily. Quick interior clean and hoover. Was and Wax outside. So nice when it's clean. To cold to wash my 182 so that will have to wait DSC_3429.JPG DSC_3431.JPG DSC_3432.JPG

  12. You need to go to a nice scenic location for a rs photoshoot.

I used to love taking pics of my two together back in the day. Get some nice arty shots.

  13. Meant to be doing a photoshoot the weekend with the megane. Unfortunately I can't drive both car at the same time and don't like other people driving my car's lol

  16. Thought it was time to update this past. Spent a fair bit getting the car up to date, Kenwood double din stereo new ps4 all round, cambelt service etc. Then 7 weeks later car developed a engine knock that turned out to be bottom end. Had a very hard decision to make break it or go all out on a engine build. Chose the later and let AW Motorworks build a forged engine along with a few choice mods
250 Turbo, R26.r clutch/flywheel, Airtec Fmic, PMS Turbo back exhaust. Got the car back last week now have to run it in for 1,000 then back for 630 injectors and to Engine Dynamics for a map. Glad I decided to spend a fortune on the car now IMG-20210908-WA0014.jpg IMG-20210908-WA0014.jpg IMG_20210909_112554_422.jpg IMG_20210909_112554_364.jpg

  19. Sorry to hear the engine went pop mate… sounds expensive. I’m thinking about the forged route for the future - what’s the ball park figure I need to save up for?

    How’s the car feeling now?

  20. Forged engine build (not overt the top spec) but similar to Engine Dynamics Level 2 build was £3800 all in, Add on £600 for R26 r clutch and Flywheel £300 Secondhand 250 Turbo £400 Airtec FMIC £575 Exhaust £600 map and injectors
Car feels great still running standard power until run in and mapped but should fly once done.
