I'm looking to get the Meg up for sale this weekend but as I usually part ex I'm not sure in what the best way apart from cash to receive payment by selling privately Can any give me some advise please?
Yeah bank transfer is usually best option, just make sure the buyer notifies the bank if it's a large amount!
Ok brill should Ill ask them to transfer it a few hours before they come and pick it up. Thank you guys
Yeah I'd do that if they've already viewed it and are certain they're buying it. Don't let the car leave without the money in your account, they can always come collect it the next day. When we sold my Wife's Abarth 500 the fast pay took till the next day to clear, probably because of the value.
I get the buyer to check with his bank as some banks have a daily maximum online transfer (of say 10k). So if your car value is above this they may need to do 2 separate transactions over 2 days .
Bank transfer all the way mate... you can both check pretty much immediately that the money has gone through ok. Banks release money much quicker than they used to...
Get them to transfer you £1 a few days before so your details are on the system, I did that a a few times from previous recommendation, apparently it helps.
id agree with this as it confirms the bank details are correct, if they're wrong you cannot recall the payment and some stranger will be in for a nice surprise
I done a bank transfer to buy my 250 and as said it was transferred over instantly.. It was a Saturday aswell. Very easy. As said make sure you do a trial transfer before hand
Someone has offered me the full payment without even seeing the car and to pay via PayPal which to me seems suspicious. Any else think it's a bit suspicious? I have also had an email asking if it is still available with a person with the same 1st name ok not that suspicious but it's not a popular name. What does everyone else think?
I sold my Golf GTi via bank transfer 2 months ago, he did it on the phone with speaker on, as soon as it was done i logged into my internet banking and it was there. Someone tried to used my GTi as a scam, i never put the car on Auto-trader but it appeared there the week after i sold it on Ebay. My exact advert, pictures and everything but for £2000 less than i sold it for. I think the idea is people will call up desperate to secure a good deal by paying a decent deposit and then never see it again.
the money can disappear from a paypal account a few days after its been paid in, it shows as payment received, they take the car, a few days later, no money, be careful, loads of shitbags out there.
